We chose Marriott's Kauai Lagoons- Kalanipu'u as our home away from home. It was a little on the secluded side but I certainly didn't mind it. Isn't that the point when you're on your honeymoon? My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here during our week long stay in Kauai. Our 2-bedroom villa had everything you could possibly need to live comfortably; a full-sized kitchen completely equipped with top-of-the-line appliances, a spacious living room with plenty of seating and a large LCD tv, king sized beds, walk-in showers, and a full-sized washer/dryer, which we actually did use to launder our clothes so that all we had to do was unpack when we got home ;)

Perks of Kalanipu'u:
- free wi-fi throughout the entire property
- plentiful (and free) parking
- business center
- complimentary beach chair rentals (we didn't take advantage of this though)
- Market Place in the lobby

Other reviewers mentioned the helicopters and airplane noise but it wasn't bothersome at all. I probably only heard one helicopter over the course of our stay, but even then it was far away. I heard one airplane taking off and it sounded really close but it was never during late hours.

Mahalo for the memories, Kalanipu'u. Aloha nui loa.

My husband and two kids stayed here for a week and we loved it. The grounds are beautiful and the interior of the unit was perfect. It was spacious and we didn't feel like we were on top of each other like in many hotel rooms. We stayed on the bottom floor and our children could play in the grassy area between our unit and the pool.
The pool was fabulous and not crowded at all.
We do wish the property had a restaurant or a place to get a drink by the pool, but we were able to mix our own cocktails and that was nice!

Room Tip: Pick a unit on the bottom floor if you have young children so that they can play

This place is suppose to be a resort What a joke. There are no amenities. We have stayed at several Marriott properties and all of them have had a certain level of standard. However, this resort is nowhere near that level. There is no onsite bar or restaurant. You can't even get a drink by the pool. The pool is also so small that it is not even worth going to. You can take a shuttle bus to the Marriott hotel and use their pool if you like for an addition cost of $50.....ridiculous. When complaining to the staff they really don't care. The room is nice but the air-conditioning doesn't work and helicopters fly overhead all day long. I would never reccommend this place and will never stay here again.I feel Marriott isistepresenting themselves with this property. Definetely not worth the money or vacation points.

The unit itself is fabulous - beautiful, upscale interiors-furniture and finishes. Ideal for vacation living. The view is " to die for" with an oversized lanai. This is the first Marriott timeshare with a large balcony that we've stayed at. The downsides are that the pool is small and often crowded and there is no beach access. Be prepared to drive to the beach - this is not a property with extensive amenities (although there is a good gym on-site).

My husband and I rented a 3 bedroom. Villa for ourselves; 3 teens and a grandparent. The villa was as clean and well appointed as we had expected from viewing online. We stocked the kitchen which took care of breakfast; some lunches and happy hour. The pool was beautiful and never crowded. We saw planes landing in ths late afternoon but noise was minimal. The front desk was always helpful. We needed someone to come and get the wi-fi working in the villa; and he was there within 5 minutes and quickly got blazing fast Internet access. Whenever you want the shuttle to take you to the nearby Marriott Beach Resort it is there within ten minutes Max. Our weather was great. Some days were partly cloudy; but we had plenty of sun and Hawaii is lovely even with some cloud cover. Staying in Lihue keeps you centrally located and never more than 30 minutes from Princeville or Poipu. We loved Kauai and would definitely stay here again!

Villas are large, 2 couples could share a 2 bedroom comfortably. Staff is very friendly and extremely helpful. There are boogie boards, sand toys and beach chairs available for guests to borrow and take off property to the beach. The shuttle is convenient, and it is possible to rent or drop-off your rental car at the Beach Resort, which might save a little time at the airport. There is a Cattle Egret rookery across from the office, which is great fun to watch in the evenings. However, privacy was a real issue for us. Lanais are close together and have no screening. It seems like the intention was to open the room-wide glass doors and enjoy the outdoors while sitting in the living room, but the furniture is very uncomfortable, and because there are no screens for the doors, the mosquitoes were bothersome some nights. Airport noise is significant, but not half as bad as the helicopter traffic along the Na Pali Coast! Shame on the County of Kauai for not limiting the helicopter traffic in wilderness areas.

As MVC owners, we used our Pts to come to Kauai Lagoons for 10 days. We've been to Hawaii over 25 times, but not to Kauai for about 10 years. As usual, Kauai offers a quieter, more serene experience...which is what we want. The Lagoons is new, and the wing we were in has only been open for a few months. The unit, itself, is the nicest we've ever had (we've been to about 20) at MVC's. Spacious 2 bd, huge 3rd fl lanai, upgraded appliances, and about as lush in greenery as you want. The entire property is a bird sanctuary, and I've counted dozens of species, including the rarely seen Nene Goose, the state bird. It's surrounded by the gorgeous Jack Nicklaus Lagoons course, and adjacent to the eventual Ritz-Carlton on the point. It is at the end of the road, up the hill from the Marriott Kauai Resort Hotel. Very secluded. The airport is also nearby, but the occasional jets landing are not intrusive. The tour helicopters are louder, and some might find fault with this. But it wasn't a big deal to us. The units are also the most sound proof of any place we've ever stayed. So, a great night's sleep is guaranteed! No question, we will return. Aloha!
