“older condos in great central location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2011

we stayed in #513 with great view of ocean on a small beach. these condos were built in the 70's. while older, they offer a great central locaion on the east side of kauai.. the landscaping is great and this time of year were about half occupied which means few crowds and few kids. that changes in summer months. while our condo faces the ocean and beach and was a great value, it was in dire need of a thorough cleaning. my only complaint is the condo itself is a bit dated and was quite dusty and dirty. would i recommend it. yes, but not for toddlers or the picky. it simply is not well cleaned between stays and all the furniture is cheap and not comfortable. if that isn,t an issue with you, you cannot ask for a better value on a very nice little beach.

Room Tip: get a condo with beach view as most face a garden.

We enjoyed staying here, liked the location. Within easy walking distance to restaurants, shopping. The beach and views are beautiful. Friendly staff when I called with questions. Let them know ahead of time if you will be arriving after 7 pm. The room wasn't in perfect condition but it was acceptable and suited our needs, everything was in working order.

We had a ocean view ground floor 2 bedroom condo. It was fantastic. We spent 2 nights here but wished it was longer. Condo was clean with all ammenities. Well stocked kitchen, plus a washer and dryer. We had a lovely view of the ocean, kids only had to stroll over the grass to the private beach. We even had a monk seal come up on to the beach to chill out while we were there! Well located in Kapaa close to supermarkets, shops etc. Great value. I would definitely stay here again.

I had been to this hotel with my parents as a teenager and now I have taken my kids. I would go back in a heartbeat. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The units are all individually owned. We stayed in a ground floor unit that had recent updates, but other units are vintage 1980s. Our 2BR/2BA unit had a W/D, which is essential with 2 young kids. The condo does have a laundromat for those who don't have w/d in the units. There was no AC, which is ok with me, but it did get hot in the late afternoon. There are lots of mosquitos out in the evening, so bring bug spray. The pool is nice and the "keiki pond" (kids' beach) is great for the little ones. The surf is a bit too rough to play in on the main beach. Grocery shopping near by, Food land is close and a nice store, but Safeway up the road is cheaper. The only complaint I have is about the check in process. You have to check in at another hotel down the road, near Lydgate park. It is not easy to find in the dark and with tired kids in the car!

We have just got back from 2 weeks in hawaii. we spent a week in honolulu, and had a super time. the second week was to be spent at the lae nani in kuaui. Well...........we lasted 3 nights! It was just awful, we had a beachfront condo, which i have to say the view was amazing, but the condo itself was filthy! it smelt really stale and of mothballs, so much so we didnt want to unpack as we didnt want the smell to stick to our clothes! my husband opened a drawer in the living area and found several pairs of ladies g string underpants! the condo is full of clutter, cushions, lamps etc which just gather the dust. cockroaches in the kitchen, towels which smelt and could only be used once as they smelt even worse after use!!! uncomfortable pillows, the bed sheets smelt stale, dirty skirting boards, flithy carpet.
The reception staff wernt great either, they work from 11am until 3pm. after that you are pretty much on your own. Rennee in particular was most unpleasant and unhelpful. We told her we would be cutting our stay down and could she have all our paperwork ready for us to leave at 11.30 the next day as we have to catch a flight back to honolulu. she told us she would be there at 11am when the office opened. she didnt bother to turn up until 11.25, the taxi was waiting and we had to call a nearby castle hotel for them to contact her for her to come and open up the office and check us out of the hotel. She only works for 4 hours as it is!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so we nearly missed our flight.
also Rennee didnt go through out final bill at check out with us, and just went ahead and charged all sorts of things to our debit card even though we paid cash. all in all we had over £1000($2000) of charges to our debit card which shouldnt have been charged at all.
We would go back to Kuaui, but never stay here again, and we most definately wouldnt recommend it to anyone. its miles away from anywhere and you definately need a car to get around. In fact we will never use castle hotels again if this is the standard they set!!

  • Liked — beach front location, great view of the ocean
  • Disliked — condo was unclean and terrible reception staff.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2006

We stayed at Lae Nani for 6 nights, Dec 23-29, 2006. Our family of 4 had a beach front unit close to the pool. Very quiet and relaxing. Woke to the sound of crashing waves every morning. The condo was very comfortable and the staff was very helpful and friendly. Lae Nani is in a great location for travelling North or South. Either way takes no more than 1 hour. Highly recommend this place to anyone. Mahalo!!
