“One accessible waterfall”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 29, 2012

Kaua'i - especially the North Shore and interior - is blessed with abundant rainfall and this is reflected in the many rivers and waterfalls. The setting of Opaekaa Falls provides an experience of the lushness of Kaua'i and its endlessly dramatic landscape of volcanic formations and along with Wailua Falls is an easy "must visit" for anybody interested in waterfalls.

“Fourth star is for the view on the OTHER side of the road”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2012

The waterfall is far away from the view point, compared to Wailua Falls, which is RIGHT there. But cross the street to look at the river and valley - very beautiful. It's so accesible, why not stop?

“Beautiful Views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2012

You can enjoy beautiful views on both sides of the road. On one side you can enjoy the falls and on the other you have a great view of the Wailua river valley and the Hawaiian Village. If you stand there for a few moments, you will probably see some kayakers on the Wailua river.

The Wailua river was the "River of Kings' to the ancient Hawaiians. If you walk down the road a bit, you can visit an ancient Hawaiian heiau (holy place). Walking further down, you will find the Bell Stone. Kings and Queens of Kauai used this rock for announcements, especially for royal births

“Beautiful”

A short drive for some great pictures. Very nice area on both sides of the street. Don't worry if a tour bus is there,,,they don't stay very long.

“Not Spectacular but No Reason Not to Go”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2012

It's 5 minutes off the main road in Lihue. It's a nice scenic view. Good spot to take pictures and across the street is a good lookout of the Wailua river. It takes 20 minutes max to absorb it all and then be on your way so there's no reason not to go.
