The trip was a college graduation present for my daughter. We had a great stay. Hapuna Beach is one of the few white sand beaches on the island.

Breakfast overlooking the ocean in the morning was the ultimate luxury. Dinner and drinks in the evening watching the sun setting over the ocean and listening to the waves was a very nice cap off to each day of our stay.

Most rooms have some sort of ocean view. The hotel is near the top of the island so you should plan day trips accordingly. We did not find the location to be a problem; however, if you have teenagers, the activities and shops are limited at the resort.

Hapuna Beach is above the vog (volcano discharge and fog) that hangs over the general Kona area and the south side of the island. The air is clear and clean at Hapuna Beach. The water is warm and the pool temperature was perfect. The pool was huge and more than able to accommodate swimmers and kids.

The hotel staff was excellent. Housekeeping checks rooms twice a day and restocks as needed. The food at the hotel was very tasty. Drink and food prices were in line with the rest of the island. There was no charge for covered parking although there was a fee for the Internet which I thought was silly. The front desk printed out our boarding passes which was a nice plus. Towels were available for beach use at no charge as were lounge chairs and umbrellas which were put out each morning and stored at night. There is a life guard on duty during posted hours.

We stayed a week. I was sad to leave!

“Beautiful Hapuna”

Beautiful hotel and great view. The hotel is undergoing rennovation and this does take away from some of the view from the lobby area. We had an ocean front view and is was gorgeous! The hotel rooms still need some updating. We did love the sliding shutter doors that fully open to the view. We left them open all night to hear the ocean. The Coast Grille was great for breakfast but pricey. This hotel is far north on the West coast. It is far removed from any town. A bit difficult for shopping or dinner out. If you want a beautiful resort away from traffice, this was great!

Big Island-Hapuna Prince Resort-June 16 thru 23rd
Just got back and I cannot say enough about this resort. First let
me say the construction is NO BIG DEAL. Unless you want to spend your entire vac in the lobby. And the 35.00 pr day credit is
great toward your food bill. Stayed in bldg 4-room 915. Room spotless and the view breathtaking from your lanai. see pictures.
I have never had housekeeping as good as here. 2 times a day our room refreshed with clean towels, bottled water was provided at no chrge each day. Valet parking. The front desk was
always helpful and cheerful. Jennifer -you rock girl! and a big Thanks to Le Ann for all her extra help. You name it they had it-maps to go anywhere and a great list of restaurants and even menus. The Beach was amazing. The water so clear and calm you could see your feet in 5 -6 feet water. The sand soft and clean -lots of chairs and umbrellas. Didnt spend much time at the pool- but it looked very nice too. Make sure to try the Breakfast Buffet. Pricey -but very worth it especially when you use your 35.00 credit.Everything you could imagine for breakfast and a spectacular view while you eat. We had a perfect stay and couldnt have asked for more.

“Not for me”

Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel

I found out after we had booked our stay using American Express points that the lobby was under construction. I was a bit surprised to find out that the only open restaraunts were the pool grill and the one above the pool. I was also disappointed in the room furninshings, older bedspread and furniture, bad flourescent lights in the bathroom!! The toilet is only separated from the rest of the bathroom by a half door with louvers. So, if you like your privacy, there isn't much! I actually didn't think it was worth the money or the points. The food at the pool grill was ok - it wasn't terrible and it wasn't superb - it was pool grill food. The pool has cheap plastic chairs - no cushions and you sign your life away to return your pool towels by 6:30 pm or risk being charged. I really didn't think the $35 credit was enough considering the fact that you basically had one choice for dinner! The one other restaraunt that was open - I was disappointed in - the first morning we ate breakfast there, we had ants on the table. We have been to Hawaii and the Big Island two other times and have never experienced ants in the dining areas. I thought the food was just average for the price of $68 for 2 adult breakfast buffets. The waiter didn't even want to bring my husband a glass of orange juice - he told him that he could get it from the buffet. Our room and bathroom were very clean. The cleaning staff were the friendliest. The hotel was very quiet - I wasn't sure if it was because of the lack of guests due to the construction or just because it is a quiet property. We did not get an activity bulletin upon check in and I found out on the last day of our stay - again - disappointing. The location of the hotel wasn't an issue for us - we drove everywhere! Take the northern route to the volcanoes and you will save yourself some time. The beach was nice, the views were good - I just don't know that I would stay at this hotel again. I really don't see what people rave about here.

Stayed at the Hapuna Prince in June of 2008. The hotel is partially under renovation due to the earthquake damage of November 2006. The only thing bad about this is the lobby area is surrounded by walls - normally it's has a open feel with the ocean view fronting the lobby. A few of the restaurants are closed, but thats about it.

The best thing about this resort is the location. Beautiful, secluded, pristine white sand beach right in front of the hotel. The area of the beach front is huge, unlike any hotel in Waikiki. The pool is awesome too! Huge and heated - I think it was a saline pool.

The hotel wasn't that busy but that added to the atmosphere. This is the perfect place to relax and refresh yourself. If you get a ocean front room - you can fall asleep and wake up to the sounds of the waves gently crashing on the shore.

Food at the restaurants - were all top notch.

The rooms didn't look that new - but it was clean and that's the main thing. The room itself is big and the bathroom is huge! There's a shower and a seperate tub, two sinks which was perfect when my wife and I had to get ready.

I had an awesome stay - and I can't wait to go back again.
**I'm also anticipating the reopening of the Mauna Kea Prince later this year too!!
