“Best southern style lunch buffet”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2010

We recently went to Augusta to attend a friend's wedding and we stayed at the Ramada Hotel and Convention Center. It was a very good experience from the check-in to the best southern style food we have eaten anywhere - we just had a great time. The entire staff we encountered were all so very friendly and helpful in every way. They went out of their way to help us find a new battery for our car and even offered to take us to the wedding so we wouldn't be late! Our room was very nice - it wasn't a very large room but it was lots better than other rooms we have stayed in. The bedding must be new because we had the best night's sleep in a long time - we even asked the front desk where the mattresses came from because we'd like to buy some for our house! Everything was clean and fresh -they had coffee and tea and all the standard room ammenities.
The room rates seemed fair, the people were exceptional, the downtown area was very pretty with lots of interesting buildings and shops and we look forward to coming back again.
Our number one choice in Augusta from now on will be the Ramada Hotel Downtown - a great find!

FYI - If you want a great room to ensure a overall good experience (Ramada's by default MUST be graded on a curve - set your expectations appropriately), as for one of the NON-Smoking rooms on a higher floor. Their website pictures of the standard king and 2 queens are a bit lackluster, however, the 9th floor, corner king room is exceptional (for the Ramada). On the contrary, I initially requested a smoking room with an early check in. Big mistake! Having been here a few years ago, I was shocked by the room's drab, dark and dank decor. I described the previous floor plan and was moved this beautiful, modern, up-scale corner room with a view of Augusta's Square and a neighboring building's rooftop sprinkled with vibrant potted flowers. Not a bad upgrade from the original cave! ;-)

My advice, if you stay here and are dissatisfied with the room, just ask for the floor plan that's modern, bright and airy (albeit somewhat small). From there, you should have a generally pleasant stay!

It is impossible to refurbish all hotel rooms at any given time, however we are constantly working to upgrade all rooms. I am glad you enjoyed the decor of the corner room as well as the great view of the city.

This hotel is on the edge of a newly-resurrected downtown Augusta. Good places to shop, coffee houses and restaurants. Not to mention the riverfront and a great museum in the Morris. However, it was dark and quiet when we entered with no cars in the parking lot. When we pulled in, a stripper bar greeted us across the side street. We needed pet-friendly, so when this one said it accepted pets, we made the reservation. However, the front-desk person ( no name tag) said "I don't know where you heard that", but I will see what I can do. The hotel was EMPTY! They placed us on a sixth-floor room that was so hot, we could not shower in time to go out to eat. The hallway smelled of urine and cigarette smoke, emanating from the fire stairs and there was dirt and dust everywhere and filthy chairs in the room. The bathroom floor had been replaced, but the room appeared to be a bad 70's throwback in furniture. The view...lovely, the room...scary. No restaurant was open in the hotel, but they touted a bar in the penthouse. We went to walk the dog after coming back from a meal and rushed back due to the negative impression we received from the patrons hanging outside of bars and in doorways up and down the street...to the point that we kept crossing back and forth to avoid contact. We checked out as fast as we could the next morning and found another place...quickly.

Do not stay at this hotel, if you do, check the ppep hole. How odd the room we stayed in was located by the stairs and elevator, and we noticed the peep hole was stuffed with tissue. We told the front desk, they looked at us with a look of "ya, right" and asked how we were paying. There was also LOTS of black hair on the bathroom floor and toilet (however, we didn't address this with them). Our complaint was taken to their customer care, yet the customer care treated us HORRIBLE. They really don't care about the safety of their customers; and for the record, their policy states that the safety of their customers are IMPORTANT, and to extend this security they BRAG about the peep holes in a booklet on the table in the roooms. STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE.

This was one of the worst hotels i have ever stayed in. I never complain about things but this place was awful. Lobby looked dirty -elevators smelt really bad of cigeretta smoke-we had brown water coming out of our shower-air conditioner was very very loud-hotel right beside train tracks-indoor pool was out of order for the entire week we were there-hotel staff didnt know anything about the area-charged us for phone charges we never used and told us something was wrong with billing-spoke to manager and all he did was refund phone charges. Hotel was very pricey considering everything that was wrong. Really disappointed and would not recommend this hotel to anyone.....

I was in a large group of students staying at the Ramada Hotel in downtown Augusta. Upon check-in, the hotel had a very smoky mildew smell. When I checked into the room, it was dusty and looked antiquated, but I figured it was okay. I went to dinner and when I returned was the first time that I used the lavatory. There was a dirty ring around the commode and when I turned on the shower, the water would not get hot and the tub would not drain. I was switched to a new room and just went to sleep. When I woke up to take a shower in my new room, the water rain brown and had a terrible odor, since the tub would not properly drain, there was a rusty ring left. After being frustrated, I just decided to go to breakfast. When I arrived, I saw several other students just sitting in the lounge. There was no buffet set up, and we were told that they only have a buffet when the hotel is full. There was a hand written menu, with 1 server who did not arrive until after 7:30. I had to leave after waiting 20 minutes because class started at 8. This was the most horrible hotel experience that I have had. I would not reccomend this hotel to my worst enemy!

Just don't do it. This place is awful. It's old, dirty... I don't think it's been updated since the '80s. It's also loud. Not sure what's up with the trains around here... but you can hear the trains every 30 minutes or so. If you stay here, bring some sleeping medication. Better yet, just stay down the road at the Marriott or somewhere else. This place should be torn down.
