My boyfriend and I have visited The Last Resort many times. Tonight we went for my birthday and it was just as good as it always is!
We called ahead, but still waited 30 minutes. The restaurant is very tight and loud unless you get on the front porch which is very pleasant, which is where we sat thank goodness! It was quiet and comfortable. It was pouring out and they were worried about the rain coming in, but it was no big deal. Check out the ceiling on the porch, it was very cool!
Berek, was out waiter. So nice! The menus were on the table when Bryan showed us to it, which I noticed and earlier review about it taking 15 minutes to get them. Berek came and got our drink order within five minutes and we were ready to order our meals at that time.
We both got the vidalia bacon dressing on the salad and it is absolutely delicious! A must get!
I ordered the the Teddy Phillips pasta dish and it was delicious. Penne type pasta with Portobello mushrooms, okra, and capers with marinated sauce. Tasty! Boyfriend got the Struggleville. He said it had a strong bacon flavor, it tasted like breakfast, it could use a few more shrimp, but the sauce and shrimp were good. It was under a black pepper cream sauce. Both were a good portion size for $13.95 and $15.96.
Since it was my birthday dinner we couldn't pass up dessert. I have heard ravings about their cake. Let me just tell you that I am a caterers daughter and I am overly spoiled and sophisticated with my desserts! I was very dissapointed. I got red velvet and it didn't taste quite right, but the icing was delightful. Boyfriend got one of the chocolate cakes. He said it was good, itwas better than mine, but not as good as my mom's! ;)
Someone mentioned how good their whipped cream was in a previous review and it is delicious, but it is only reddi whip out of a can. :)
I would recommend this restaurant to anyone that asks for a place to eat in Athens! I know we will be back!
