“Historic charm with modern ammenities”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2010

We stayed at the Foundry Park Inn for one night on a whim and were really pleased by the accomodations and the friendly staff. My wife scheduled a manicure at the last minute before our arrival and they were able to squeeze her in. The traffic into Athens held us up and we were 30 minutes late, but the staff called and adjusted her appointment with no hassle. I ordered some pre-festivity crab cakes just accross the way at the Melting Point and they were scrumptious and reasonably priced. My only regret was not being able to take advantage of the massage services- they were booked solid so if you plan on having one, book it as soon as you can. Location is very convenient to downtown Athens...on a Friday night, parking goes for a premium there!

This is the first time that we've stayed in a hotel in Athens. The Foundry Inn property is located on the back, east part of the downtown Athens. The name makes it sound fancy.

PRO's:
Room was clean and spacious
Room was well furnished -- had a microwave and mini-refrigerator

CON's:
Bathrooms were a bit antiquated -- no counter space for toiletries.
Sink fixtures were broken/damaged (but working)

OVERALL:
Nice hotel at a good price.

ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS:
We'd like to check out the Indigo Hotel next time to get a different perspective.

Good location to get to downtown Athens and the UGA campus. Great music at the hotel with a bar. Fun place to come to a football game.

Stayed at the Foundry for the weekend for UGA Parents' weekend. Service started with a nice touch - complementary beer, wine and hors devours at check-in. Room was very comfortable. Also enjoyed live music at the Melting Point on the property -- outstanding music venue.

Happy hour with gourmet hors d'euvres by their chef, charming and clean room, and a superior facial and massage at the spa. Delightful and will stay there again.

Somehow it works. It was clearly an old motel, but they but in nice beds and beautiful furnishings. You can't beat the location if you are going to game weekend. The value was terrible, but in line with everything else in the area on a game weekend: 2 night minimum at over $250 a night.

My husband and I stayed at Foundry Park Inn for one night when we were visiting Athens. The location is good (but the entrance is a little tricky due to a strange intersection) and you can walk to all the shopping/nightspots in town. Check-in was smooth and the room was clean. For the price we paid, we were hoping for a bigger room and bathroom, but it was just average overall. The internet connection was spotty and didn't always work. The bed was comfortable and the decor was your average "motel" looking furniture and pictures on the wall. The A/C worked great and we really liked the double shower heads. Overall, it was a nice stay, but I think we paid too much. Basically, it's a "motel" with an upscale name, but if you want to walk to most places in Athens, this is a good location with nice staff.
