A nice restaurant with a great staff. Very relaxing atmosphere! Reasonably priced for the type of food.

“OK but could do better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2014

Food was not bad but far from cheapest place in Athens so shouldn't expect any less. NY strip steak well cooked, veg done perfectly but mashed potato not great. Service was a bit awkward frankly - very sullen and serious. Other staff seemed far more open and relaxed in fairness

“Excellent Wedding Rehearsal Dinner - Mid March 2014”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2014

Our experience at Porterhouse for our son’s wedding rehearsal dinner was fantastic. Shawn, the restaurant manager, was great to work with. He took care of every detail and made our experience VERY stress free. He gave us multiple options for entrees and he was willing to work with us to insure that we had all of our needs met. The staff was personable and very accommodating. I would HIGHLY recommend Porterhouse for a rehearsal dinner if you are looking for a quality experience for your rehearsal dinner...this is a great place to consider. Comments from all of the guests was fantastic and the bride and groom were very pleased.

“Good Steaks”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2014 via mobile

We found the restaurant to be a good place to eat. It is located on Broad Street in the middle of Athens. They have good service, full bar and a broad menu. We had the She Crab soup, Prime Rib and Steak - all very good. You should not be disappointed.

“Not Worth the Expense or Time”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2014

The setting seems to be very nice, and pleasant. When we got there the greeting was quick and prompt. We were looking forward to a great meal.

We then ordered two steaks, and a pasta dish, and the Green Tomato appetizer. The appetizer came out quickly, and the breading on the tomato was perfect. But the sauce was no good, and reminded me of a poor thick thousand island dressing.

The server pushed that the steak fries were really good, so we both ordered them to replace the mashed potatoes. Then when we got them - they were nothing special (reminded us of a bad version of Five Guys French Fries). The pasta dish was clumpy and greasy, and the steaks were "okay". The two best things we had were the fried green tomato and the sautéed mushrooms.

What really bugged us was that the meal came with mashed potatoes, and we switched to the fries (per the server suggestion), Then the bill came, and it turns out the fries were $4.25 each. It was a $8.50 surpass. When we asked, the server was non-plussed, didn't take responsibility, and just said that is the way it is.

We eat at a lot of great places, and I would recommend the Longhorn or Outback over this.
