“Getting Better all the Time”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2012

A much-needed addition to Normaltown/Cobbham, Heirloom is a fun place whose philosophy I appreciate enough to try to patronize their restaurant as often as I can. First time there I was underwhelmed, but with each subsequent visit I've grown more and more appreciative and my palate more and more satisfied. Always fresh, and usually (or always) locally-grown, their cuisine leaves you feeling satisfied but not stuffed...a good thing.
Absolutely beautiful and creative gardens, by the way.
Keep up the good work, Heirloom, and you will soon rival Athens' best.

“No Way”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2012 via mobile

This could have been such a great spot for a simple neighborhood restaraunt Alas no. Parking lot is always full of SUVS and Lexus from Atlanta. Tiny portions of overpriced, pretentious rubbish. Friendly but slow service. Sooo many better places in Athens you could spend $70 at for a dinner for 2. Sorry, its just awfull.

“Pleasantly Surprised”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2012

I enjoyed eating outside in the relatively quiet of the evening. The food was good but I found the appetizer to be under seasoned. The waitress was very accommodating and asked if we wanted any substitutions to the entree. The vegetables were cooked perfectly and the entree was yummy. They have a good selection of wines. The prices seemed a little high and there just seemed to be something missing. Maybe it was the lack of seasoning or the lack of a sauce on the entree. It just missed the mark of fine dining. I would like to try their brunch.

Unusual combos of locally grown veggies and meats. Seasonal menu worth a try.

“getting better all the time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2012

This restaurant has been evolving and changing since it first opened about a year ago. It's a new restaurant trying to work out its identity and decide what it is going to be. It's getting better all the time. They have become more service-oriented, doing more to justify their relatively high prices. Six months ago you had to pump out your own coffee from a thermos at breakfast - now they bring it out to you. There has been rapid turnover in the staff, and the results have improved. The service is better now, but little things, like bringing out butter when you order pancakes, have yet to become routine. In time they probably will.

I've had excellent food here for breakfast/brunch, lunch and dinner. Except for Sunday brunch, it is never busy. I love to spend time here in the mornings, reading. They must drum up more business, though, if they are going to stay in business for many years to come. I certainly hope they do, since this is one of the very best restaurants in Athens (and that's high praise!)

I think I probably speak for many locals who say that they would go here more often if it were more affordable. Breakfast is affordable, but lunch and dinner are very expensive for the amount and quality of food you get. The portions are way too small, especially at lunch. I don't know any other restaurant in town that serves such small portions. For about the same price you can get more food that is just as good (or better) at the 5 & 10 or the National (or even at Etienne's). So why go here? Well, the menu is great, and so is the outdoor seating. It's not busy, which is also attractive if you want to have a quieter meal.

I'm a big fan of Heirloom, and recommend it all the time. Go here, you won't regret it, unless you want a lot of food for cheap.
