“we learned about it on a food tour!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2012

we LOVED this historical stop on our Athens Food tour recently. the history of it was hysterical and I am not sure if there is a plaque with more info about it, but our guide told us the whole story and it was a great little piece of athens.

It is literally just a cannon on the front lawn. It is cool to stop by and see if its on your way, but no need to make a special trip. And dont plan on visiting more than a minute or so. Its

“For history buffs.”

Nothing special. Just a cannon with a little local history behind it. If you are interested in local history or strange artifacts, check it out. Best to just drop by if you are already downtown.

“interesting to say the least”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2012 via mobile

while i should take offense this crazy cannon is still pointed nawth, its actually kind of jokey considering it never worked in the first place. i gotta say it seems like a good idea, well ok it seems like a good idea if you are 14...which come to think of it they might have been, but anyway hey you never know until you try right? bravo athens, i am very glad this quirky military curiosity is well preserved.

“A monument to stupidity!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2012

Someone had the bright idea of building a double-barreled cannon, which didn't work at all. The city should be embarassed, not proud, of this invention. Don't bother going out of your way to see and read about it.
