“Great Place to Stay in SPS”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2012

We stayed in La Posada for one night in August 2012. We had heard that San Pedro Sula can be a dangerous place so we decided against spending much time there. On arrival we headed straight for Copan Ruinas. However, as our flight home was leaving at 7am, it became clear that we would have to spend one night in San Pedro Sula.

We did some research and decided on La Posada. We couldn't have been happier with our choice. We arrived into the bus station at about 8pm on a bus from La Ceiba (having been to the Bay Islands). We were greeted by a driver from La Posada with a sign with our names and were transported, free of charge, to the hostel.

We booked in for one night and were shown to a nice clean double room with a private bathroom, tv and a/c. Everything was perfect. We needed to get some food. The owner kindly offered to call a local pizza company if we wanted to stay in the hostel. Instead, we decided to walk about four blocks to a large modern shopping centre which had a number of different restaurant options. The following morning we woke at 4am and our taxi was waiting to take us to the airport.

I was quite apprehensive about San Pedro Sula, giving its (somewhat unfair) reputation. However, I have to say that La Posada made everything run very smoothly. I would certainly recommend this place to other travelers.

I have read the one negative review of this place and it simply does not ring true. Firstly, it's highly unlikely that a tourist would spend 6 nights in La Posada. While it is a very well run hostel, SPS is simply a necessary stopping off point, and not a destination. Tourists rarely would have cause to spend more than one night there. I also find it an unlikely destination for somebody visiting family in the area. It is very much geared towards short stay tourists and backpackers. Secondly, what owner would steal "perfumes, shoes, lotions, clothes, jewelry, etc" and hope to get away with it. We left all our belongings in the room for the duration of our stay and had no problems at all.

Great, clean, trustworthy and safe place. We go there all the time.
Alex, the owner speaks very good English and is very helpfull.
The taxiservice of Oscar around town or to La Ceiba is also recommendable.

Room Tip: All rooms are nice.

I would recommend this Hotel to everyone. The employees go out of their way to assist
everyone so you can feel at home. Employees give you good information about where to

we were 5 girls, travelling from utila to nicaragua, and subsequently we were required to stay a night in san pedro sula for our bus the following morning.

this guest house provides an absolutely excellent service from start to finish, and i would have no reserves about recommending it to friends. they sent a lovely air conditioned shuttle to pick us up from la ceiba port, with an exceptionally kind and friendly driver who stopped along the way to buy us all some examples of honduran food. when we arrived at the guest house, they proceeded to sort out our bus tickets for the next morning, so that we could get settled in our rooms.

we met the owner alex, who made sure we were comfortable and happy with our rooms, and the service provided. the rooms themselves were probably one of the nicest and cleanest that we stayed in throughout our entire travels!

5 star service, well done to la posada for providing such a good guesthouse.

La Posada is an amazingly safe retreat in SPS, could not say a single bad thing about the place. It is located close to TicaBus station, the driver they provide is FANTASTIC- he brought us on a food tour of Honduras- such a pleasant funny man. He went to buy our bus tickets for us the night before. The room was huge, clean and nice and cool. The owner Alex is so friendly and attentive, the pool and hammocks are gorgeous and the whole atmosphere is safe and family-like. Got replies to our emails within minutes, and the driver was waiting for us at La Ceiba port, and again the next morning to take us to the bus station. They let us pay in a complicated mixture of currencies, and made sure that we were happy with everything. Very well organised and great place for a stopover in SPS or even to spend longer. AMAZING place, stay there!

From the beginning Alex was very helpful. From being online and available to answer questions, to getting us from El Progresso when we got lost, to sitting for an hour (yes an hour) and giving us directions to where we wanted to visit. I have never seen hospitality like this. Alex speaks perfect english and provides the most exquisite amounts of customer service.

Now onto the service staff. AMAZING. She has to have wheels under her feet bc she was at the front door to let me in and at the kitchen a few moments later when I needed water heated for the baby. Alba took care of us while we were there. I specifically remember walking out of the room and returning about half hour later (I forgot something in the room) and the room was already clean, beds made, and fresh towels available. I was so impressed.

Another incident is when Alba was doing her duties. Cleaning etc. I saw her in the kitchen on her way to get her supplies and simply asked if she had any fruit that I could put in a small bowl to give to my baby. Alba completely stopped what she was doing and even though this was a few hours after breakfast was over and cut up the fruit for me. Again. Impressed.

My mother did some laundry while there and when she mentioned she needed to go get the clothes from where they were hanging. On her way to get the clothes, they were already close to our door with them.

I have traveled all over this world and to be honest, when we chose to go to Honduras we weren't so sure what to expect. The folks at La Posada made it sooo easy for us. Even with our limited spanish, Alba, who does not speak English, stopped each and every time to figure out what we were trying to get. The way they greeted us at the door when we return from wherever we went that day, to directions, to conversation. All great.

If ever in Honduras, this is where I would stay. Without a doubt.

Room Tip: All rooms are great. We had the one closest to the pool.

During the six days of our stay, we spent most of the days visiting families and relatives we found out that while we were gone every day, on our returned for the night, we would find out that some of our things was missing, such as perfumes, shoes, lotions, clothes, jewelry, etc, etc. I would say that aproximately about $300.00 Dollars worth were stolen from us. There are one person that could have stolen our things and it's the lady that is in charge of the intire place. You couldn't pay us to there the next time we visit San Pedro Sula, Honduras. I say stay away from this Bed and Breakfast

This is just one of those cases where people wants to destroy the reputation that so hard we have build, I remember your case and even that we did everything possible to please you ( allowing you to have more people in the room that you reserve , having visitors all the time and many other things ) you are still not please and try to hurt us.
I will not answer your accusations since many other guest already have and they will continue writing about what kind of people manage this B&B.
