“Great day trip from La Ceiba!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

This is the island we all see in the calendar pictures- its gorgeous. If you're in La Ceiba, take a day trip out on a boat from Sambo creek and tour the islands.

“Great....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2013

I took this tour with Honduras tourist options, and they pick me up at the hotel, it was $40 pp, tax included, food not included, but they went to one of the cays where the only hotel in cayos is....thay lend the snorkel gear, you bathe, in a pristine blue beach....they gice you a little tour walking....then you go to chachahaute, where the garifunas are, and they fish you the food, you can choose various options....it is really worth it, the boat ride was ok, not very jumpy, and with roof....but ask how it is...

“Best coral ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2013

Early morning we were picked up for a trip to Cayos Cochinos.... taken to Sambo
Creek, a Garifuna community of local mixed blood African descendants....

Headed off on a choppy sea in an open boat with sunshade - about 16 of us....
two massive outboard engines thumped us across the heavy swell for 40 min
walloping heavily with every rolling swell.... passed tiny cays (pronounced
keys - meaning tiny islands) - some with a handful of vegetation, a grass hut and
a canoe on the beach - the islands being a quarter the size of a football field.

Stopped at one of the two bigger islands and snorkelled off the beach... vibrant fish
and remarkable coral - best ever... and then started feeling stings all over my
body...felt like endless little electric shocks - others started yelling that
they were stinging too. We were being attacked by a swarm of microscopic jelly
fish - our guide told us to get to shore straight away... it was as if we were
being chased by sharks - have never seen a group of snorkellers move so fast! Told
not to itch and stinging would pass - which it did....so we were taken in the
boat to another island where we snorkelled off the boat...into an absolute
wonderland of a pristine coral forest - 1 metre high lace fan coral - blue,
green, purple....forests of alien plant forms - all coral, waving and billowing
with the tidal current - and then we came across a mass of golden staghorn
coral - at least a metre high - have never seen anything like it – can’t find
the words to describe the wonder and beauty.... The fish were spectacular too
but the coral was just simply breathtaking.

We stopped on a smaller island where 48 families of Garifuna lived....crystal
clear water all around...so clear it seemed to magnify everything. It was an
amazing day...hot, sunny, humid... but the coral was the king prize!

“nice snorkeling - great fried fish”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

The snorkeling was fun, but there were some jelly fish that made us cut it short. The Garifuna lunch was outstanding in flavor and taste for less than $10 per person.
