“Perfect Jungle Getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2012

My husband and I stayed at Omega for 4 nights in January 2012. It was such an amazing place. Great staff, Amazing food, Beautiful location and scenery.

We stayed in the creekside cabin that sits over top a gurgling creek and it was so peaceful. There were fireflies at night, hummingbirds during the day, hiking on their property and the lovely rio canagrejal a 5 minute walk away. This river is the most beautiful I had every seen.

When you book a tour through Omega you get a free nights stay, and although we met many people who loved the tours they did, my husband and I were so happy just being there and relaxing that we didnt even do a tour!!

A must see in Honduras!!

“The Adventure Never Finished!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2011

20 of us went rafting and Udo and his crew were very fun, safe, and experieced guides! The pasta lunch included was needed after all the carbs burned on the journey. We took the difficult route up to the fall with our Experienced guide, a few of us spoke Spanish otherwise it may have been hard to communicate with the guides, but they were so helpful and safe! Silvia is the one to see for te horseriding tours. You won't be let down with this Awesome crew!

“Lucky to get the best rafting ever”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2011

So now that we have been there, we understand more about the time of year, the seasons, and what these variants can mean for the rafting.
If the water is too low, you can't do the upper class V rapids. The same if it is too low. Different times of the year also mean different consitancy of water levels. We learnt all this when we arrived.
We specifically went to Omega to raft. As per the previous post, we got there the night before and then found out that the water level was too low for the Upper river which has the Class V rapids. We were told the option was the swimming/jumping/little rafting as the water was too low for anything else. We were Pretty dissappointed to hear this, and we were already there.
Luckily for us, it started raining, and rained all nite. We were able to do thye lower section first with lower class rapids, and then in the afternoon, we did the upper.
The upper was the best rafting trip I have ever done. It was basically continous action, big drops, hard paddling, and just an awesome time.
Our guide, Ryan, was fantastic. We scouted the more difficult rapids before running them, and he explained why they were more dangerous. He also explained how we would try and do them, what to do if we fell out or capsized, and where the safety exits were. He also told us where th safety people would be with the ropes. More on that in a sec.
He did this for about 4 of the rapids, and we felt fully informed about what we were doing with each one.
His knowledge, professionalism and enthusiasm were massive factors in having such a great day. We had complete faith in him - and he deserved this.
The other part of the trip was the safety. Firstly, all the equipment was in great condition. But more importantly, all Omega rafting trips have at least 1 support kayak. We had 2.This person/s would be a little down river from the raft to either help people who fell out, or on the more serious rapids, they would get out and be land based, ready to throw a line to anyone in the water, and pull them to safety.
We did actually see another raft on the lower section (from jungle river lodge) that did not have a support kayak. Apparently sometime they do, sometimes they don't. I know that the german owners of Omega are not prepared to take that type of risk. They are thorough, and always have safety in mind. Rafting is taking a risk, but they make it a calculated risk, not a stupid risk. Anyone could drown in any river, or even a puddle, but i don't think it's a coincidence that they haven't had a fatallity since opening in 1992, and jungle river lodge has had 2 in 5 years. We have confirmed this.
Anyway, we highly recommend Omega for the full day rafting including the upper, but just make sure you confirm before you go that the river levels are suitable to do this. Otherwise, you will be dissappointed with the lower, unless u have never rafted before.

“Beautiful Lodge with excellent service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2011

From the rafting to the horseback riding this location was one of our favorites during our vacation in Honduras. (10 days in total) The staff was knowledgeable and the lodge was stunning. (A big shout out to the manager, I forgot her name, but she was a young woman who I believe was of Canadian decent- she was excellent) The lodge also seemed to be involved with the local communities, which was an extra plus in my book. The food was simple and delicious. (especially the chicken) We stayed for 1 day and left for the islands. Upon our return we were stranded due to some unforeseen circumstances and fortunately we were able to stay at the lodge for 2 days with no notice- they even offered to upgrade our room at no cost. I would highly recommend this location and this lodge to anyone visiting Honduras.

“Experienced, Professional People - Beautiful Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2011

Excellent place for beginner rafters - and experienced experts! I was new to rafting, my friend's been rafting all over the world. The staff spoke my language and was attentive to my concerns, there were a variety of experience leveled guides, which made my friend happy. We had a great time! The place is natural and makes you feel like you want to stay forever.
