Copan Ruinas is not highly developed, and la Casa de Cafe was a great place for us as Americans who didn't speak Spanish. The owners are fluent in both English and Spanish, and Howard even helped us arrange our stay the night before in San Pedro Sula. All of the staff are incredibly helpful. There are ten rooms, each of which opens directly onto the enclosed two-level lawn and garden where a wonderful breakfast is served each morning and coffee, tea, fruit, and dessert are available all day long. While small by US standards, the rooms are excellent and very clean.
We stayed six nights in March of 2014 while visiting our son who teaches at a bilingual school on the other side of town. It was a five-minute walk from Casa de Cafe to the central plaza and lots of restaurants and shops, and there are small open taxis all over the town who charge only about $2.00US - less if you start to seem like a local.
This was one of the best places we've ever stayed. We plan to return to Copan Ruinas and will definitely stay here again.
The only disturbances were the roosters all over town who make sure everyone wakes up early.
