We understood that Yat B'alam had only been open since around January. We think we may have been the first Brits to stay here.
With only four guest rooms its rather like a charming bed & breakfast. The style of our room was simple yet stylish and very comfortable. We had everything we needed.
The beds were very comfortable. We had a fridge and cable tv. The bathroom was stylish. Rooms were very clean and the communal areas of the hotel were charming. The air con was most welcome after a hot day exploring the ruins.
There are a couple of really good restaurants within close walking distance. The main square is also within close walking distance.
There is a cafe within the hotel where you can get a good breakfast including wonderful coffee from Cafe Miramudo (coffee from the Bird park).
We could have had free use a nearby swimming pool if we'd wanted but we weren't bothered. There was some noise at night (fireworks etc) which might be something to do with the time of year we travelled - Easter.
All in all if you're looking for a good deal with some charm then I wouldn't hesitate in recommending you give this place a look. The owner was keen to ensure we enjoyed our stay and we certainly did!
