“Fresh Fish”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2012

Spent an afternoon on Watercay, its like your own island. If you head right from the boat drop off point, there is a small sandy patch on the point. Its great because everyone else goes left. You won't hear a sound except for the wildlife and occasional boat passing by. The area to the left is better for getting in the water, but if you walk carefully over the rocks you can get to your own private pool.
Stop by the main cay on the way back for some super fresh fish.

“Water Key snorkel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2012

We contacted Captain Jake, a delightful seventy eight year old native with a great Irish accent, to take us to the outlying Key for a couple of hours snorkeling. He gladly took four people for $50US for the basically half day trip. The snorkeling at the Key is decent with the usual scenario for this part of the world: Some bleaching, smaller fish, some nice small soft corals. The Key has good tree shade but does have a good bit of trash that a lot of us tourists have left over time. I would go back and camp a night if I want to take camping stuff. ($2.50 pp per night if you stay)

“Cool Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2012

Good place to visit.
Main island is Cayan Cay which is fishermen´s village of around 600 souls, located on two small cays connected with the bridge.
You can get good fish and that is about it.
Other place to visit is Water Cay. It hosts nice sand beach and it is party place for Utila visitors that want to change setting.
There are two cays with houses that can be rented. Price is between 160-200$ per night and larger house has 14 beds. Pretty much you get whole island for yourself :)

“Diving and Swimming in a Tourquiose paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2012

Excellent snorkeling, clean island, beautiful waters, almost deserted island (except during Sun Jam!). Great for picnics and day trips. We saw several Eagle Rays. Arrange for a local to take you!

“Quiet, slow, no traffic, a very different experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2011

I've had the opportunity of staying on Jewel Caye and visiting Pigeon Caye while there (they're connected by a bridge). It's very small and very intimate. Almost all locals. There is no road traffic. The only way to get around the cayes is on foot or by boat, which is really kind of cool. I definitely suggest taking a water taxi or grabbing the Captain Morgan boat in the morning (usually leaves at 7 AM from the dock near where the ferry docks, look for the empty field). The fish burger place (they serve many other things) and Caye View Restaurant are quite good. If you go to Caye View, make sure to get the fried chicken. REALLY good!
