“Lovely location, spotless room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2014

I stayed here on my first night on the island to recover from my travelling in style.
The room was large and beautiful, the porch area outside was a great place to chill with a few beers.
A few negative points, one of the staff walked into my room while I was undressed, hastily apologised shut the door and then reopened it 5 minutes later, so I was stood in my underwear not understanding what she wanted because I didn't speak spanish.
Also I tried to tell one of the guys I changed my mind about not wanting breakfast in the morning but he only pretended he understood me and walked into his room. So I didn't get breakfast.

The management however was extremely friendly and I felt comfortable here.

Simple, clean and quiet . . . which is actually difficult to find in Honduras and Utila. If you like something a bit farther away from all the action and noise this is the place for you. Your room will have all the basics, clean comfortable bed, quality sheets. Our room appeared to have been freshly painted and the tile in the bathroom was new. Hot water is a bonus almost everywhere in Honduras so it was wonderful to have the hot water. Your room will be tidied up wonderfully each day and you can't beat the views of the garden and also the distant bay view from the upper floors, though it is about a 5 minute walk to the beach, and 5 minutes the other direction to the center of town. Our room on the second floor had air conditioning which we appreciated and used as it was very hot the week we were there. We did enjoy the lounging area on the third floor with the comfortable sitting area and hummingbird visitors. We also enjoyed the morning continental breakfast plus the scrambled eggs each day. The breakfast building is unique and beautiful on it's own and would make a spectacular restaurant someday. Other guests are friendly as are your hosts at Colibri Hill - makes for a nice family atmosphere. We would certainly stay there again and recommend it. Good value for the island.

We recently spent 4 nights at the colibri in Utila and found the location excellent, with a great view from the 3rd story level rooms and just far enough away from the sometimes noisy and busy main street business area.Breakfast which was included was very good and the service from Lucia and staff was excellent. They directed us to the good beaches and snorkling areas and resturants. It was a short walk to eating establisments or you could take a tuk tuk taxi (small charge)to good snorkling at coral view beach where there was a nice pier which had a small reasonably priced bar also. This hotel is up a hill so there is usually a nice breeze which was a real plus.We spent a month travelling through out Honduras mainland and Utila and Roatan and this resort was one of our better experiences. As is the case in a lot of areas there are roosters around so bring a set of ear plugs.

Room Tip: Third floor rooms have excellent view of bay area and get a nice breeze so ventalation is good and y...

We had the privilege of staying at Colibri Hill at the end of February. What a beautiful place. Nice pool, wonderful landscaping and clean rooms! Rooms come with hot water. Air condition is an option, but you won't need it very often as the rooms have good ventilation. Great staff who were able to assist us with any needs or questions. The place even has an outdoor bar. Quiet, secluded and a short walk to a wonderful beach. We can't wait to return.

Room Tip: Rooms on floors two and three have the best view of the sea. Corner rooms have more ventilation.

We booked this place at the last min and was pleasantly surprised. We where a little worried when we pulled of the main road towards the hotel (a little dirty looking) but when we reached the hotel it was a small piece of heaven. Nice pool area with a little bar and clean upkept rooms. Our room was plenty big and modern. lots of hot water and comfortable beds. The on-site staff (Shirley) was a very friendly Canadian, who never batted an eye to make our stay awesome. A short walk to most dive centers and bars and restaurants, but far enough away from the scooters and 4wheelers that plague the main street. The property is well maintained with nice palm trees and flowering shrubs. The pool is nice too, at the end of the day to take a dip to cool down before going out for the evening.

Room Tip: try not to stay on the ground floor. late night partiers coming home tend to be a little joyfull

My boyfriend and I stayed at Colibri Hill on Christmas Eve and were so happy we chose this place. It is just a side street away from the main road but it's more secluded and private. We could hear the party music going on Christmas eve but I'm sure that was around the entire island. The next night was much quieter. We sat by the pool and had drinks with the bartender/manager who was such a sweetheart and we got to know her boyfriend Luis and beautiful son Marley. Such great people. They took such great care of us and were so down to earth. I would definitely recommend staying there if you want something more special in Utilia and want a good nights sleep.

Room Tip: We stayed on the top floor for a better view of the coast and for lounging in hammocks. I would reco...

We stayed in Colibri Hill in July 2013 and I can truly recommend the place for others as well. The room was beatiful and comfortable with a sea view and a hammoc. It was also very clean and was comfortably cool during the night. The surroundings are nice with lots of colibris around. The pool could maybe be a bit cleaner but is nice and refreshing anyways. The resort has a quiet location, just a short walk away from the main street. The breakfast was good and overall we had absolutely nothing to complain.

The best thing was the helpfull and friendly staff. We had promblem with our luggage and the staff helped us a lot in getting our bags to utila from la ceiba. I was also sick during our stay in Colibri Hill and the staff helped me with doctors and medication. If we go back to utila we will defenitely stay in Colibri again!
