“AWESOME! Don't miss this one while in Roatan”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

Ruthless Roatan Charters made our trip to Roatan a blast. We had the greatest time with Captain Tim, Andrea and everyone who joined us on the Sunset Cruise. The drinks flowed, tons of laughs, and the few was incredible. My wife caught her first tuna on the boat, giving us an amazing experience. Later, we caught a nice 15 pound tuna and we all had the most delicous Shashimi we have had in our entire lives. I can't thank Ruthless Roatan Charters enough for a great time and ending our last night in Roatan with such a exclamation point. If you are in Roatan, be sure to contact for these events. This fall, we will book Tim more than once. AWESOME!

“Ruthless-ly Outstanding!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2013

My boyfriend and I just returned from a fantastic vacation from Roatan. We visited several of the typical tourist spots, and even found time to lounge on the beach in West Bay. But, when comparing all of our excursions, we both agreed that the absolute highlight of the trip was our time spent on Ruthless!!!

We found out about Ruthless from some local people we met in West End. They told us we would love going out on this particular boat, not only because it would be a blast, but also because of the people that ran the boat, Tim and Michelle.

We met Tim and Michelle the morning of the trip, and immediately felt a sense of comfort with them. I’m not a big boat person, so it was important for me to feel safe. Ruthless is a bigger boat, so in addition to Tim and Michelle’s hospitable personalities, the mere size of the boat, and the fact that it had an area inside where you could get out of the sun, helped settle my nerves. Michelle was very welcoming and helped us get settled in, and Tim was obviously well conditioned at maneuvering the boat.

We started the day with a satisfying breakfast and set-off for a little island called Cyos Cochinos (spelling?), with another small group of people that had signed up for the same charter. The boat was AMAZING! Even though there were nine of us on board, including the crew, there was plenty of space for everyone to stretch out. And, the best feature of the boat, in my opinion, was the BATHROOM that was onboard!!!

Tim asked us if we wanted to fish a on the way to the other island, and of course my boyfriend jumped at the chance. We ended up catching a decent sized tuna and had fresh sashimi for lunch, along with a few other things the crew brought for us.

As the day went on, we could tell that both Tim and Ruthless were extremely seaworthy!!!

We thoroughly enjoyed the time on the little island, as well as our ride back to Roatan. We had such a good experience that we didn’t want the trip to end. We had to leave the next day, so another charter wasn’t in the cards for us this time. But, we will definitely be returning to the island of Roatan and taking another trip or two, or three, or four, on Ruthless with Tim and Michelle.

Simply an awesome time with awesome people!!!

Thank you, Tim, Michelle and Ruthless for the amazing memories!!!

“Highlight of our trip!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2013

We joined Ruthless Roatan on a day trip out to Cayos Cochinos and had a blast! Tim, Michelle, and Blue (sp?) were amazing hosts - knowledgeable, competent, and a hell of a lot of fun (the best possible combination of characteristics, IMHO).

We got off to a slightly later than anticipated start as the boat's battery needed charging in the morning thanks to an overnight power outage (if memory serves - I may be slightly off on the exact details here) but, as regular travelers to Roatan, we know that GO WITH THE FLOW is the best way to enjoy the island. My point is not to criticize the Ruthless crew - the power outage certainly wasn't their fault; rather, I want to point out out well they handled what was probably a stressful situation given the unanticipated glitch. If you can't handle the occasional surprise inconvenience, you're not cut out for Roatan. :)

Once we got going, the day was pure joy! The boat ride over to Cayos Cochinos was a blast and Blue, Michelle, and Tim were there to freshen up anyone's drink, share a plate of watermelon, or provide some wonderful insight about where we were headed all the way over.

Cayos Cochinos felt like another world. The snorkeling was incredible and Blue's knowledge about and rapport with the people who live on the island totally made the trip. I feel so lucky to have had the privilege to have met them and learn a little about their everyday lives.

And things just got better on the way back! The ride back was a little choppy -- which just means it was a BLAST! As on the way there, drinks were plentiful, snacks were available, and the company was great. The fishing on the way back was so much fun and, as others have noted, the tuna sashimi we enjoyed thanks to the handy fishing skills of all aboard and the amazing filleting skills of Michelle was delightful!

There were three of us in our party and as our trip to Roatan was wrapping up and we reflected on our favorite part of the trip this year, we all agreed that our day with Ruthless Roatan was THE highlight. Thank you, Tim, Michelle, and Blue!!! See you next year!

Bottom line: if you enjoy an adventure and have a sense of humor and a good attitude, you'll LOVE it! If you are a high maintenance person who dislikes fun, this trip isn't for you - and you probably shouldn't be on Roatan in the first place.

“Beautiful but long trip out to Cayos Cochinos”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2013

Our trip out to Cayos Cochinos was highly recommended, it was both awesome and exhausting. The crew for the day was Tim, Ed and Michelle. Tim is the captain and owner and handled the boat with expert knowledge and really really really enjoyed the fishing! I was under the impression we paid for the captain to fish. At one point they had caught a large wahoo and Tim brought it in, not offering anyone a chance to reel it in. There were a couple of strong guys on the boat that could have done it, but at one point we heard Tim say, "we don't lose any fish on this boat". If you were a paying guest, what would you think of the captain doing the fishing?. On the other hand, Michele was really a great hostess and was very caring and frequently checked on us if we wanted anything and gave us a thorough explanation of what we were going to see and do. The breakfast was minimal, fresh pastries, juice and coffee. I didn't see any fruit. I would say more of a continental breakfast. Which was fine as not all the trips out to Cayos are so well provisioned and the lunch and snacks were great.. The trip out to Cayos Cochinos was really slow as we were trolling the whole way there and it was hot, not much shade as the boat was full and in the stern lots of deisel fumes. I think nonpaying guests had some good spots on the bridge. We got one fish on the way over. Once we got to the islands it was absolutely beautiful. The water was crystal clear, but there were not too many fish. We figured the islanders on Cayos Cochinos had to eat. We were served a delicious lunch made by the people on the island. But be prepared to be asked to buy trinkets from them. They appeared to be making some of those things from black coral and tortoise shell. Not sure I would even be allowed to bring those into the states. We got some really beautiful photos of the island and their boats. Once we were done eating and snorkeling we headed back and that is when the real fishing took place. We were catching lots of baracuda, skip jack, wahoo and one tuna. Michelle cut up the tuna and served it to us. Oh my! that was good. One of the things that bothered me was there were some guests of the boat who were celebrating one of the guys birthday, they did not eat lunch with us so we figured they were not paying customers, however, they drank quite a bit (I am sure more than they brought on board) but they fished while others who paid did not get a chance. There were plenty of drinks and alcohol and Michele gave us delicious guacomole and salsa on the way back. There was also birthday cake for the birthday boy who was turning 21. Our group does not drink alcohol much if are out in the sun and snorkeling all day. Too much risk of dehydration. Overall the cost was good compared to other trips out to cayos cochinos, but if you are not that interested in fishing this may not be the trip for you. Also not many other trips to Cayos serve food and open bar, if any. None have the vessel so ideally suited for a trip like this. However, it was a long day, we left at 8AM and got back at 7:30. Too long considering we were fried from the sun and snorkeling. I would have given this cruise 3 stars but the islands were so beautiful and Michele made the cruise very pleasurable. If the fish are biting be prepared for a long day.
Take home message - if you like fishing, cruising on a boat, drinking and an hour or 2 of snorkeling and swimming this is the trip for you. But if you really want to snorkel and see pretty fish stay on Roatan.
