Owner description: The centerpiece of the resort is The Black Pearl, Roatan’s first and only golf course. This 18-hole, par-72, 7200 yard championship golf course was created by world famous golf course architect Pete Dye. The course starts at the ocean’s doorstep, rises into the island’s rolling foothills, then takes golfers on a wild ride back to the seaside clubhouse. It features one of Dye’s signature island greens, and 14 holes offer stunning vistas of the ocean and the Meso-American Barrier Reef. The Black Pearl is not only a haven for golfers, but for the vast wildlife on Roatan as well. With more than 100,000 plants and trees, the golf course is one of the largest sanctuaries of plant and animal life on the island. This eco-friendly golf course is one of only a few golf courses in the world to use a special strain of grass called Seashore Paspalum. Dye Designs were pioneers of the use of this salt-water tolerant strand for tropics-based projects, known for its environmental compatibility, ease of irrigation and maintenance, and translucent green hue. Its appearance, juxtaposed against the turquoise Caribbean waters, inspired The Black Pearl’s tagline: “The Best Greens and the Best Blues.” The Black Pearl also features state of the art practice facilities including a lighted driving range, ocean front warm-up range, and a practice chipping green designed to create an atmosphere of game-improvement, one that encourages guests and residents to enhance their skill sets while honing their games on one of the region’s most playable layouts. This is a semi-private course with a myriad of membership options available including temporary resident memberships, corporate and executive memberships, and yearly memberships. The Black Pearl is a world-class golf course that perfectly complements Pristine Bay’s luxury resort and real estate options.

“Great coarse, friendly staff and great food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2013

We played a round at this new addition to Roatan. The coarse was in excellent shape and the greens are immaculate .The coarse is fairly open with the odd water hazard to make it interesting.
Great scenery overlooking the Carribean Sea .There was almost no one on the coarse which allowed for a steady pace and a little time to enjoy the landscape as well as the golf.We finished off the round with a nice late lunch in the dining room overlooking the pool area and the marina.
We will be returning next year.
The only drawback was there was no beverage cart and no one informed us about this
Otherwise a perfect day

“AMAZING COURSE”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2013

Pristine Bay is a true gem. While on our second visit in July we played this course or rather dh did. I drove the cart and took pictures. The course is stunning and manicured to perfection. My husband had a blast.

“Outstanding!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

Played this beautiful golf course on December 28th. I was paired with a member named Leon (retired form the USA) who plays the course almost daily. When you arrive on site you know you know it is going to be an awesome experience. The clubhouse is gorgeous and the views are breath taking. All of the staff were friendly, helpful and spoke english. This is a Pete Dye design and the the entire course is 5 plus star quality. I play golf regularly and annually in Myrtle Beach and this course meets or exceeds the finest couses I have ever played. The daily rate is $145.00 but one gentleman staying on site purchased unlimited golf pass for 7 days for $350.00.

“Thanksgiving Day Treat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2012 via mobile

Booked a round here while on a Norwegian cruise. Excellent course to play. Fairways and greens in great shape. Four sets of tee boxes so pick your degree of difficulty. Caddy was knowledgeable and pleasant. Like new TaylorMade 2.0 irons as rentals. Amazing views and a must play for any golfer when visiting Roatan.

“What a awesome day of golf in paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2012

The course is set in such a beatiful area, right on the ocean. Breath taking views of the crystal clear ocean water and the lush country side. Course was in great shape green everywhere. The fairways and tee boxes were short fast and lush green grass. Greens were really fast with lots of undulations. Pete Dye signature island type green and mounded greens with closey mown run offs. The layout is great lots of challenges- water, tight fairways, elevation changes. Course has great drainage, rained the day before and eventhough it was soggy, was in great shape according to how much rain came down.

The staff was excellent, golf pro was helpful with rental club selection and insight. Had caddies for our round and they were exceptsonal, great course knowlage and friendly. Rented some Taylormade burner 2.0's and they were just about brand new and they were awesome clubs.
Current club house had a unbelieveable views and pool.
