“It Only Gets Better!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2012

When my plane touches down in Guatemala my mind turns to my first stop at Cross Roads Cafe. I made my return visit this morning and it is as good as ever.
In my first review, which got botched up, I compared this iconic place to the famous Rick's Cafe in the classic movie Casablanca. This review only furthers that perspective. Mike plays the role of Rick and us patrons visit because it is comfortable and the hub of socialization for the town of Panajachel.
I placed my order for a suitcase (I exaggerate) full of coffee for holiday gifts back home. Mike's coffee is requested by my friends as many consider it to be the worlds best. I suggest stopping in and placing your order and returning the next day to pick it up.
Today, I had a carrot cake that was worth a celebration. Everything is made by his wife and I have yet to have anything I didn't like.
You may walk into CrossRoads Cafe a complete stranger, but you will leave having made some wonderful friends.
You're better than ever, Mike. Thanks for making a great cup of coffee.

“Best coffee. Great vibe. Amazing pastries. Friendly owners.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

Love this place. Always a fun, happenin vibe with lots of expats enjoying the best coffee you can get anywhere on planet earth. The guy buys from local farmers directly, pays over fair-trade price and only gets the best of the best...then roasts it himself in the cafe in Pana.
Pro's:
- Best coffee you'll ever have.
- Amazing pastries
- Fun travelers to talk to.

Con's:
- Can be a bit hard to find (but worth the effort)
- Can get crowded and busy (bring patience....Owner Mike is super friendly, but clearly has to run nonstop to keep up with everything).

Don't miss:
- Best chocolate chip cookies I've ever had. (The guy's wife is from South Africa and has the good ole European grandma mixed with pioneer spirit thing going on and her pastries are out of this world.)

“Great coffee in a cool little cafe”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

Really friendly american owner making lots of different hot drinks. Great wall decoration showing a map of the world. Really nice little stop a little hidden but just ask passers by and you will find it.

“Great coffee, interesting people”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

The owner/managers, Mike and Adele Roberts, are friendly, down-home people that serve great blends of Guatemalan coffee. Its a small place and usually full of faithful, local patrons as well as international tourists. The home-cooked desserts baked by Adele also should not be overlooked. We love this place!

“A hidden gem...”

A hidden gem where you can get an awesome coffee! A little tucked away in one of the back streets but well worth tracking down!
