Lake Atitlan is surrounded by a variety of large and small villages all with their own unique experiences. As you descend down into Pana you will be wowed the entire time by the amazing views of the lake. You can hike for weeks or more. So many things to experience or simply take each day being wowed by the sunrise and the sunset, both breathtaking. Make sure to hike one of three volcanoes, then take the next day off..lol So many markets especially on the weekend in Pana you will find everything you need there. You will find the locals more helpful than most of the ex-pats, I said most. Make sure you eat at Hans in Jaibalito the food and prices can't be beat, not to mention the bread they bake fresh each day, multigrain ummm!!
This traveler plans to re-visit, now I know where not to stay!!! Want to know just ask me. The Iguana in Santa Cruz was good food, good times and from what I could see good accommodations.
