“Simply Charming! And wonderful service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2009

The rooms are charmingly furnished in period style, the courtyards invite conversation between travelers, the staff (Luis, Nilo and Juan) are warm and friendly and the meals are AMAZING! We were in and out of the hotel for 4 one night stays and each time it was like coming home. We had three mornings with 5am departures, but Luis brought us coffee with our 4:15am wake up calls and packed us box breakfasts to eat in the car. We elected to eat all of our Guatemala City meals at the hotel because the food (especially the soups!) was exquisite!

I brought 5 very trusting friends on a 10 day trip and Francesca made all the travel arrangements for hotels and guides. I could not have asked for a better travel agent!

The Posada Belen is a very cultural, exotic, cozy hotel which has amazing hospitality, rooms, service, food, and expiriences. My family and I stayed for one week and it was an amazing vacation. This gorgeous hotel is full of mayan artifacts. The Posada Belen is very family oriented, either to go out on an exotic adventure or to relax the day away sitting upon the most tropical garden of eden. The hosts and employees are very friendly and treat you like family, because while you stay at the Posada Belen you are family. At each meal all the guests eat together like a "familia grande". My family and I recommend this marvelous hotel to all of our friends, family, co-workers, and whoever wants to expirience a vacation that could only happen once in a lifetime...unless...you go back to The Posada Belen.

I stayed at the Posada Belen in the heart of the Historic District two weeks, it`s a peaceful place, excelent staff and delicious food you feel like a home, is very easy to take a transportation and obtain information and the most important, it´s security and clean.

I am certainly happy on my experience at Posada Belen during my stay in Guatemala City. My daughter and I really liked the environment of the hotel. The rooms were clean and we loved every single detail of the mayan decorations throughout the hotel. We also enjoyed having breakfast and dinner in their restaurant when we were in the city. Everything looks so charming and cozy. Francesca and Rene went out of their way to try to acommodate our needs. They arranged our trip from and to the airport. They suggested and gave us ideas on which places to visit and how to take advantage of the 2 weeks that we were there. The prices are reasonable and I recommend this lovely place for anyone who is wishting to visit the beautiful country of Guatemala.

p.s. Make sure you check out the turtles

It is hard to believe how blind those gringos are. Just because the place seems safe there happy, I dream about the day when your friends Francesa and Rene will charge you in Euro and make more money on the exange rate, Didn't you see the rates inside the rooms are 36 US and when the bill come you have to pay 49 US ?

I´m afraid we have to charge taxes on the publish price and yes we do take Euros but need to ask to set a exchange rate. Unfortunately for this French couple we still are in the American continent and iven Belize that used to be a Brithish colony do have the USD as base for tourist money and hotels., El Salvador wich is next to us and is our biggest comercial partner do use the USD as base money, we as small 10 room Inn can not fight against reality. Sorry, Im glad everything else was OK.

I stayed in this place for 3 days, while I was working in Guatemala City. I enjoyed it and think it is full value for your money. The location of the hotel is very good, the staff is nice and the rooms are fine. Most important for me, the beds are very fine and I had a very good sleep.

We absolutely loved the Posada Belen! Rene and Francesca are to be congratulated for running such a fine establishment! We have never stayed at a Posada where the staff are so polite, personable, attentive, and professional. They really do care about the guests they serve. The Posada Belen truly is a gem!

Posada Belen is located in a fine colonial style home built in 1873 converted into an intimate Museum Inn, centrally located in a quiet street of the historical center of Guatemala City about 3 miles north from the airport (10-15 Minutes), run by the same family since opened in 1972 to international tourism. Posada Belen was slowly transformed from a colonial style home into a very special inn. Etc. Shuttles are also available from the inn door. Guided walking City tour is available, Guatemala city is important if you really want to understand our culture and its history. We will be happy to help you with your itinerary and up to date travel and safety information. The Posada Belen is especially safe for women traveling alone. We have a pick up service available at any hour of day or night to all persons who will like to have a friendly and safe welcome into Guatemala's airport for about the same price as a taxi (depending on the arrival time from $10 to $15), we know we are not for everybody, our clients are usually smart people with lots of travel experience, who are looking for comfortably way to enjoy true Guatemalan culture and also likes to stay in a place with character. ... more   less
