I went to this museum on the strength of seeing images of the famous jade mask taken out of Tikal. When I arrived I discovered that it was not displayed at weekends! Notwithstanding, the museum has a good collection of artifacts on display, including monumental stelae with magnificent bas reliefs, jade objects, and a display of indigenous costumes. It merits an hour or even two of your time and you could combine it with a visit to the neighbouring museum of moden art.
