I loved the location of this hotel and the staff. We stayed at the Grand Tikal for 2 nights in September, and I actually prefer the Best Western. The only negative is the rooms are not as spacious as the GT and they only serve a continental breakfast; there is no restaurant in this hotel. However, Applebee's and McDonald's are immediately to the right of the hotel, and TGIF's to the left. A convenience store is across the street, and a mall is about two blocks away. The staff was definitely more helpful here. At the GT, we would stand there obviously looking lost and would stand at the desk waiting for someone to help us, and neither the front desk or bellhops said a word to us. I thought this was odd because every other review in the Yahoo group I belong to raves about the helpfulness of the staff, but I never experienced it. The rooms are always $50 p/night, approximately $79 w/tax. I did follow the advice of an earlier poster and called the hotel directly instead of booking on the website. Hope this helps!

BW Stofella is a great choice for a Midrange hotel stay in Guatemala City. I spent one night in this hotel in November 2007. The hotel offers the usual no-frills but comfortable BW standards in a nice property in a great location in town. My room was basically furnished but large and clean with comfortable bed and bathroom. Location is right in the heart of Zone 10 (the business and commercial district of the city) with every choice of restaurants and food chains at walking distance. Per concierge advice, the area is considered safe to walk around and, for larger distance, concierge with call a taxi for you. At time of my booking price was the cheapest among the same level of accomodation in this part of town (note that price you may see shown may not be inclusive of sales tax, if so, add 20%). Breakfast was included in my rate but I did not make it as I Ieft very early in the morning. Only point of disappointment, I asked for a boxed breakfast but they did not offer that service. All in all, good solution for midrange accomodation in Guatemala City; if I were back in town and price were again lower than competition, for quality provided I would have no reason to go any place else.

For the price, this is the best if not one of the best hotels in Zone 10. Conveniently located and safe, there are many restaurants in easy walking distance. Staff are friendly and helpful, rooms are spacious and it was an excellent experience for a business traveler who does not want luxury.

This hotel is clean, convenient, and well-located in the middle of the Zona Viva (walking to restaurants and bars), a quick jump to the airport. I felt that I received a good value for my money.

A quick warning regarding reservations: Hotel Stofella makes and honors reservations like normal hotels if you call them. They, however, do not coordinate particularly well with the Best Western website nor (as others have noted) do they feel particularly responsible to honor them, because they do not reserve the reservation information until the morning of, by which time the hotel may be full. Why make your reservations online? Because the hotel rate will be ten dollars less. I found this aggravating, and as such feel lukewarm about this hotel.
