World-class property in GC, with lovely rooms, fantastic king bed with Luxury thread-count Egyptian cotton sheets. Service througout property was friendly and professional. An excellent buffet breakfast spread was included in our rate. Location in GC's safe and secure Zona Viva a plus. Free shuttle to and from GC Airport. No complaints here.

The checkin was good. I was booked into room 1424 and it was a nice corner room but the room was cold plus I tried to have a hot shower but the water was just luke warm not matter how long I let the water run – it was like this at 8pm then the next day at 4am and then when I returned to the room at 9pm it was still luke warm water. I asked to be moved and they gave me 1502 which had good hot water so I could at least get a shower. This might sound strange but the room was cold. I was only in this hotel 3 days but I wouldn’t stay again because of the car alarms. Outside my room there is a car park that is valet parking in the evening and they jam all the cars in with no room between cars so they can fit more and the car alarms go all night and not just one alarm but two or three. This goes on all night – the hotel could do something about this but I just don’t think they see it as a problem. The windows are thin glass so there is little sound insulation. In addition the TV did not work properly, it flickered all the time. There were two phones in my room, one worked and the other didn’t. Breakfast was good. Room service was slow but the food was good. Internet was Q70 per day but was fast.

As typical to the Intercontinental hotel, comfortable rooms and soft fluffy comforter, soft king size bed, great staff at check in and around the hotel. Free drink tickets to use in the bar during happy hour. Pool area was nice, but we were very disappointed that the Jacuzzi was broken, and the water in it was ice cold since that was one of the reasons we picked this hotel. Central location, 5 minute walk to shopping mall, restaurants and bars on every corner around here. 15 minutes from airport. Would stay here again.

We stayed at the Real Intercontinental Guatemala, Guatemala City for one night on our way home from Panama. We were charged as booked at check-out. However, when we received our credit card bill we discovered that an additional charge of $327.66 was made at check-in. First we called the Intercontinental 800 number where we made the reservation. They said we had to call the hotel in Guatemala City. The receptionist there would not put the manager on but gve us an email address. The email we sent bounced. We refused the charge and it was ultimately dropped. Certainly we were not happy with the lack of response from both the hotel and Intercontinental.
