“Very nice Service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2012

People are really good on service, I had a rental car and had to use the service elevator. Always was someone there to help. Security is very formal. The area is great. Several restaurants around. There is and small souvenir shop right in front of the place. Not as better as the airport.
Rooms are not special. you do not have any drinks on it. Yo have to pay for breakfast $11) and internet is free buy you need a code and go to a registration processes that sometime is a pain.

Room Tip: Upper floor if you want top sleep. Elevators are slow and take time to get it, Better try service el...

4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2012

We stayed here twice - one night at the beginning of the trip between arriving and flying out to Tikal, and then the last night before an early flight home. The first stay, a Saturday, the hotel seemed rather empty and we got a HUGE room with a king sized bed and a balcony. Our second stay, a Tuesday night, the hotel was packed and we got a slightly smaller room with two queen beds and no balcony. We paid for both rooms with points, which was a fantastic value. Both rooms were clean, comfortable, and quite large, and the bathrooms were the same, with great water pressure and a tub. Coming into GC I didn't know how comfortable I would feel walking around, but we felt fine wandering in this neighborhood at night checking out restaurants. Something to watch out for - one of the nearby restaurants, Casa Chapina I think, had a marimba party on Tuesday night and we could hear it all the way up on the 15th floor. I don't even know how that was possible. I always travel with earplugs, and there was no thumping bass, so I still got a good night's sleep.

One thing that's not apparent on the website is that they have a free airport shuttle - just email them to confirm that it's running when your flight comes in - I believe the scheduled end time was 4pm, but the desk person mentioned something about sending it out for later flights as needed. It also starts running toward the airport at 4am, which was perfect for our two redeye flights out. And they have coffee and tea set up even earlier in the lobby, so you can sip a free cup while waiting for the shuttle, which I found rather thoughtful.

Room Tip: Rooms ending in --12 are on the corner and have nice little balconies.

I stayed here on hotel points (super cheap!) and the hotel was very clean and located in a safe-feeling part of town near lots of restaurants and bars.

Nice place to stay. People at the front desk are really very helpful and kind. Mr. Byron is at the front desk and sees that everything goes fine for guests staying at the hotel.

The area is filled with restaurants. Two blocks to the East is "Panaderia San Martin"; this is a great place for coffe and breakfasts. Also, neaby is Hacienda Real, very fine for steaks and wines. Kloster is 2-3 blocks to the East, good for beer and swiss cheese.

For book lovers, Sophos is a fine library 4 blocks to the East.

Room Tip: Best rooms are those above the 10th floor. Ask for one facing the West side, so you can have a beut...

I stayed here back in June of this year while getting some dental work done nearby. There are a ton of really good traditional Guatemalan restaurants nearby and the hotel is very nice as well.

I stayed several nights here and the best price by far is booking direct with the hotel as the guaranteed lowest price online was 25% higher and they did not give the free breakfast online. Really nice hotel at a good price for downtown. Million restaurants nearby. Try Media Cancha (take taxi) or walk to los Ranchos which is beside or in a large hotel two blocks away.
At Los Ranchos I had the Steak El Presidente, melt in your mouth, they say it is 12 ounces, I think they brought me a half kilo! Share that one! I found Guatemalan steak to be fantastic, better than Argentina. For th,e coldest beer in town go across the street to the little bar which is open air and has ice cold Gallo beer and serves free popcorn - very South American feel to the place. One street over is a Peruvian restaurant that has great lobster for around $30 but very big, also pisco sours for $5.00 and the real thing. Note that Guatemala is not as unsafe as Mexico but getting there, don't recommend families at this time, try Costa Rica or Panama. Not super unsafe but the one in a million is a one in 500,000 scenario here with the drug trade. The new president is a miliary man and he was elected on getting the streets safe again. Having said that you read it more in the papers than you see it on the streets.
