“Weekend escape from city noise...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2014

...my wife and I really enjoy this extraordinary place every and each time we manage to escape from routine.
Neat, modern but still cozy bungalows with a fireplace are in a strange but balanced contrast with the main building and surrounding nature.
Although I'm not a fan of hotel restaurants - I must admit I love this one. Unfortunately they
took my favorite off the menu but there are alternatives! And to assure the calorie attacks don't have a to "heavy" impact on the BMI there's always the wellness center.
Spa facilities are awesome and so is the view from the endless horizon pool - just one word: spectacular!
Thanks Hilda for making each of our stays at San Gregorio unforgettable!

The place is spectacular. The view unforgettable! The experience not that good!
The architecture is great, but there is lots of details in the room and bathroom that are very poor. The real problem is lack of attention to the details: No menu on the room. Room service ends at 9:00 PM, but there is not mini bar in the room. There is not enough hot running water in the bathtub/shower, runs hot for 3 minutes. Some bathroom fixtures are broken, there are no soap bar, but soap dispenser screwed to the wall, like those you find at cheap motels. The restaurant is not good, the room service is not good, but the food is worst. The breakfast is included, the restaurant is awfully dark and ugly, and the food is not a good again.

The SPA facilities are good, the service over there is better, but it is not designed to service couples. The steam (Turco) and the sauna are one for each gender. The rooms for a couple massage are so small that the two masseurs bump into each other.

At the end, is is a great place, nice land and development, but not a place to have a couple's escapade. From experience point of view, it is an expensive disappointment. US $300 for one hour of good massage? The rest of the stay was waste of time.

Room Tip: The first 5 cabins have the best view and are more private.

My husband and I spent two nights at this wonderful hotel just outside of the city. The views
were breathtaking, perched so high the air was so clean and crisp. Our cottage resembled
a modern European house; built into the land so as not to obscure the panoramic vistas, all the
cottages had eco- friendly grass growing on the roofs.
We were immediately made welcome by the staff; especially Hilda who gave us a tour of the property then lead us the dining room for a delicious lunch. I Must say the food was fantastic!
Best food we had during our entire nine day stay.
The spa was immaculate as was the entire property.
I had a two hour massage with Jackie; she was very professional and experienced. It was
pure bliss!
I would highly recommend San Gregorio, it is a wonderful place to relax, unwind and enjoy
fine dining.

The entire place has a very calm vibe that you can sense right when you enter the parking lot. It has an amazing view and the saunas and massages are great. I definitely recommend and will to again in the near future.

Visiting the Land of Eternal Springtime is special in and of itself but to stay at the San Gregorio just makes it that much better. The breakfast was to die for, the rooms spotless, the spa so relaxing, and the location a glimpse of paradise. Hilda, the owner, is a very gracious hostess overseeing every detail to ensure perfection. Moreover, she and Lily on the front desk speak flawless English and are responsive to the needs of each guest on an individual basis. The location is very tranquil and picturesque with tropical birds waking you in the morning as you breathe in the fresh and invigorating air. If every hotel was like the San Gregorio, I would travel constantly. As it is, I've traveled to over 50 countries and this hotel is at the top of the list as to the places I've stayed.

Room Tip: Any room is a good room at the San Gregorio.

Just returned from a visit to Guatemala where we booked the entire San Gregorio Hotel with a large group in December 2012. Sra. Hilda and all of her staff were so friendly, and accommodating to our group's needs, including personalizing our meal service. What a beautiful retreat just outside of the City, and the views are spectacular. The rooms are also gorgeous. Highly recommend this hotel!
