“Remember this is not a 4* and you'll be OK”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2013

Dollar for dollar or Q for Q the value is there for Chichicastenango. I think we looked at almost every hotel in town. The location is good if it's the market you've come to see. The hotel is off the street a bit so it is quieter at night. The rooms are clean but are showing their age. Also there is a bit of sewer gas smell in the bathroom but that has nothing to do with the how the hotel is maintained. Breakfast is included but is very basic (scambled eggs, refried bean, tortilla, tea or coffee).
The staff is very helpful they were happy to show us as many rooms as we requested. We did have a problem with our first room, the sink leaked, no problem they moved us to a new room right away and no attitute you get from some hotels.
There is NO wifi at the hotel but there are several internet cafes close by. The staff was so wonderful, I need wifi for business and one of them lent me their TIGO internet stick so I could get on line.
Parking is safe and secure. Overall if we were coming back to Chichi this is the hotel we would stay at and a lot has to do with the staff.

Room Tip: Ask to see more that one room as they can differ.

this is a simple but satisfying option very central, for those who are budget travelling. not the cheapest, but the few extra quetzales make for clean rooms, good hotwater bathrooms. there is a little terrace and some sofas outside the upstairs rooms for sitting outside, which make it more comfortable...supposedly there should be wifi, although it didn´t work. if you can offer a reason, they might give a little discount on the anyways low price.
we would stay here again.

Basic clean accommodations and friendly staff. Great location. Inexpensive.

Tipico style breakfast included, secure parking, very close to the market and several restaurants.

Rooms arranged around a central court yard/parking area so are quieter than rooms on the street.

As another person reviewed, the landlines are dead in Chichicastenango...therefore it was a mess to reserve our room before getting there. I wanted to make a reservation because we were sleeping there on a saturday and because sunday's amrket are so popular, we didn't want to get there and to be roomless! Also, we were traveling by car so we needed an hotel with a parking lot.

With the help of a company from Guatemala, we were able to reserve at this hotel. It was not the nicest, but finally the beds were very comfortable and the location is priceless!!!

One negative thing, which is not really the hotel fault, I knew there was a parking at the hotel, but at the reservation (which I did do directly with the hotel) they didn't advise me that I had to quit the parking before 7h am because of the market. So it was a pain in the [--] to find another parking just for the AM (because we wanted to be at the market for the AM). When we came back to the hotel...I SWEAR I never found it!!! When they say that the sunday market in Chichicastenango is one of the biggest...I UNDERSTAND now!!! So we were gla that we took out the car from there because we would have been stuck there until the night for sure!!

Back tot he hotel... the room was clea, and had a regular size. The bathroom was tiny but we had one so we're not complaining. Don't think about getting hot water...it's coollddd water all the time. We lost electricity in the morning, only 10-15 minutes, but it's normal in chichi to have that kind of things happening.

We had a TV in our room with many channels, which was great because I could watch something in English!!

I was looking for an inexpensive hotel near the market, and Hotel Giron was perfect for my needs. It is one of the least expensive hotels in Chichi, but it has decent rooms, secure parking, and good location.
If price and value are your benchmark, the Hotel Giron is your place. As a side note, Telgua the land line telephone company has stopped operations in this part of the country, so all the old phone numbers are no good. Their current cellular phone numbers are 5601-0692 or 5527-1101.

We visited Chichi on Thursday and got a room for Q$110, which did not have TV or AC. They told us there would be wi-fi but it did not work for the entire time we were there. The location was good in that it was in the center of the market, but there was a main entrance way which kept the rooms away from the street. We had a good night's sleep before getting ready for a 6AM bus ride the next morning!

Also, the restaurant at the front entrance was very good!

Room Tip: The lower level rooms are good

We stayed overnight in Chichi on a Saturday night, which was a great idea, since you get to watch the local people set up for Sunday's market. I enjoyed that almost as much as the market itself. Hotel Giron was just the ticket, had parking available, nice clean rooms and the staff was helpful. Very good location and a cheap place to stay for budget travellers.
