This antebellum home is painstakingly restored and the hosts are particularly attentive to details -- warmed mugs to prevent lukewarm coffee, super-soft sheets and a power strip dedicated for charging phones in clear view so phone chargers aren't left behind. Susan told us the house history (fascinating) and gave us some helpful sightseeing tips, along with a map to restaurants, complete with the names of owners. We were here to see President Carter in neighboring Plains and Susan accommodated us with a slightly earlier than advertised breakfast so that we could make Sunday school by 9 a.m., which was plenty of time. She said that she and her husband studied what works and what doesn't at other B&Bs before buying theirs, and this is evident. We felt pampered. Breakfast is a hearty and delicious meal. Chocolate chip scones were wrapped and saved for an after-church tasty snack.

We have stayed at many b&b's, and this is one of the very best! Susan is a fabulous hostess; she really is the Hospitality Queen. Every facet of the stay was perfect. We were very impressed with the charming gardens, the excellent breakfast, and the superior rooms. Susan really knows the area, and she was extremely well informed about the sites to see. We intend to return in another season to see more of the area. It deserves more than 5 *****+. We cannot wait to return! Sheri and Malcolm B.

Room Tip: We had the Balcony Suite and the porch was fabulous! We saw the Veranda Suite downstairs and that ap...

To anyone out there looking to experience the true meaning of hospitality and relaxation this is the place for you. We were amazed at how the hospitality was on the phone then to see the hospitality in a wonderful woman by the name of Mrs. Susan, meet us on the porch as we drove up. She showed us the property as if it had been built with our own personal interests in mind and as if the garden was our own secret surprise. I cannot express how the attention to detail made the simplest things look so wonderful, from heated coffee mugs to prevent lukewarm coffee to the rose pedals on our bed to remind us of our anniversary was being celebrated. This amazing family is a sure fit to a historical home. It is constant care that will see us back to that secret perfect hideaway. OHHH and the Breakfast. With a capital B.

Room Tip: The Jacuzzi suite is Amazing.

I stayed at the Americus Garden Inn following a visit to the nearby Andersonville POW Museum. The beautiful and well-maintained building dates back to 1847 and has a very interesting history which is spelled out on the Inn's website. My room, the Veranda Suite on the first floor, was very comfortable, quiet, spacious and well-appointed. I enjoyed chatting with Susan, the owner and innkeeper -- she was delightful, and she even took my picture with Scarlett O'Hara! Susan is an amazing chef and prepared a wonderful breakfast consisting of pecan pancakes, baked shirred eggs topped with perfectly ripe local tomatoes, chocolate chip scones, fresh local peaches, and lots of the Inn's special blend of coffee. After breakfast I spent some time walking through the Inn's beautiful gardens and grounds and admiring the stately neighborhood and park across the street. If you are looking for a relaxed getaway or are in the area for other reasons, stay here -- the Americus Garden Inn B&B and its hosts are exceptional.

Dear InnatMonticello:
Thank you so much for sharing your experience at the Americus Garden Inn along with the photos of the house, garden and breakfast. It was a pleasure meeting you and hosting your stay to our area. For folks visiting Andersonville National Historic Site, our home, 1847, helps set the stage for that time in our nation's history, 1864. We are so glad you chose to stay with us.
When we have folks ask about a place to stay in Charlottesville, we will most certainly recommend the Inn at Monticello. Thank you, again.
Warm regards,
Susan Egelseer

This was our second stay at the Americus Garden Inn. Susan greeted us as we drove in and made us feel immediately at home. Our room was very clean and beautifully appointed with rose petals on the bed and a sign over the door for our fortieth wedding anniversary. After a comfortable night sleep, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast. Susan was very accommodating with food preferences and made sure our dietary needs and preferences. We were on a month long road trip with friends and stayed in several bed and breakfasts but none compared to the Garden Inn. Thank you Susan and Kim!

What a wonderful experience my wife and I had staying at the Americus Garden Inn for our 22 wedding anniversary. The location was centrally located to the things we wanted to see and do. Andersonville just 10 miles north and Providence Canyon State Park just west about 30 miles. Susan was a terrific host and fabulous cook. Thank you for making our anniversary a memorable one!

Dear Patrick:
Thank you for allowing us to be the perfect romantic place to celebrate your 22nd anniversary. Between hiking at Providence Canyon and experiencing the despair of Andersonville National Historic Site and the National P.O.W. Museum, we are so glad you allowed yourselves a special place to have some couple's time.
There are plenty more things to do in our area, so, we hope to see you again, soon.
Warm regards,

After reading reviews of the Americus Garden Inn, we decided to give it a try for our recent Stay-cation. Boy, the reviews did not do this place justice. It was the perfect place for my wife and I to kick back, unwind, re-connect, and do exactly what we wanted to do: a lot of nothing for our 2 night stay. We always enjoy our trips to Americus, and will look forward to them more now that we know about this B & B. Susan's breakfasts we as pretty to look at as they were to eat. The rainy afternoons just added to our ability to relax from the busyness of life. We were even able to exit the Veranda Suite to sit on the porch and enjoy the smells and sounds for the falling rain. The thoughtfulness of coffee, soft drinks, and snacks at any time just added to the hospitality Kim and Susan put in the running the Inn. Stay a night or two, you will not be disappointed!

Dear Alan:
Thank you so much for sharing your StayCation experience at the Americus Garden Inn. Just a short drive from home and you truly can be transported to a different sense of time. A place where you can simply breathe and relax, rejuvenate and reconnect. Our home is the perfect setting to simply get away - from the noise, the commotion, the madness. Of course, you can use the free wifi or watch tv, if you like. Or, you can watch the rain and listen to the waterfall of the pond.
I also appreciate your kind words about the breakfasts I made for you. I am so glad you enjoyed them. We want our guests to feel special and pampered. Our dining room is available 24/7 for our guests to help themselves to a beverage, fruit or snack, just as you would at a good friends's home.
We can't wait to see you again. We look forward to it.
Warm regards,
Susan and Kim Egelseer
