We stayed at the Blue Belize for four nights on the last leg of a three-week trip through Belize. The setting and gardens are lovely, but best of all was our hostess Rachel and two young sons. Our deck was shaded by the upper branches of a huge mango tree, its limbs are a garden itself of flitting songbirds and snuggled-in bromeliads. The deck was a great spot for morning coffee. The room was large, comfy and tastefully furnished. Of all the places we stayed in Belize, these accommodations were the most modern and comfortable, and as our room included a kitchenette, it made a longer stay easy. Rachel arranged two trips with Dan Castellenos for us, one to the Snake Cayes, and another up the Mopan River. Both were fantastic glimpses into the rich and diverse ecosystems of southern Belize. We sincerely enjoyed the town itself, a bustling litte center in its own laidback way. From Blue Belize we were able to walk just about anywhere, and Rachel arranged a taxi for us for longer jaunts. Generally, the town is pedestrian friendly with wide streets and sidewalks. Together, Blue Belize and Punta Gorda was one of the highlights of our trip, and yes, we will be back. We'd love to retrun with friends, as the Blue Belize is exceptionally well designed for groups of family and friends as well as for solo travellers or couples. Lots more to explore in the PG area, and the Blue Belize would make a fabulous base for anyone wanting to stay in town. Kudos to Rachel and her staff for their hospitality. Hint: If you are a java nut, bring a good quality grind with you as you can make coffee in the room, and yes, share with others. Highly recommend the Blue Belize.
