“Dissapointment”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2012

We had a reservation here for a week starting June 13, 2012 that we booked in Feb. We arrived there and Dax informed us that they had NO air conditioning or electricity and did not know when it would be restored.......and offered us a discounted rate. We declined his offer and left. His property has " For Sale " signs in front of it. We went about two blocks north to Maya Beech Inn and got a nice room for a week. The owners were great and accommodating. The concierge Marlin was also very helpful. Their food and accommodations were top notch. They rescued us from potential disaster.

“NO ELECTRICITY!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2012

We booked with Jack in Feb. 2012 by phone for Cabin A the 13th of June til the 18th. We chose it due to the reviews I found on Trip Advisor and the a/c in the cabins on the beach. We spent a week in the Mountain Pine Ridge at Five Sisters Lodge and then left the 13th for Placencia. We never got a phone call or a message from Jack, even though he called our home number in Houston and left a message. We were shocked when we got to Maya Breeze Inn to find it deserted!!! No electricity no people. A very empty feeling to get to some place like Placencia without a room to go to! We spole to Jack and he did not look very presentable...he did offer us a discounted rate to take the cabin without power...but we booked with power and A/C in Feb. We had NEVER had anything like this happen to us when we booked and planned a vacation...so this WAS a first and I hope the last time we get into this type situation. My personal advise.: if you are going to Placencia book at the greatest hotal: Maya Beach Bristo!! FYI: Maya Breeze Inn ihas a BIG "FOR SALE" sign on the property and no electricity. PROBLEMS- PROBLEMS-PROBLEMS!!! Do not book and this location!

“Paradise Found...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2012

OK, so our beginning to Placencia started off interesting to say the least...
We drove down from Orange Walk and spent nearly an hour trying to find our original hotel that we had reservations for. We finally did and it was Closed... There was no one home (so to speak...) and a sign said "Closed for Work"... ??????? There did not appear to be any work either... lol
OK, no problem... Sometimes you have to "Roll with the Punches"... Right?? So after looking at a few other nearby hotels, we decided to backtrack. I had seen the Maya Breeze on our way into town and commented that I hope our hotel looks like "That One". :)
We went back and checked the place out. The bar was open so we talked to the bartender and he told us the office was across the street. We went over and found a woman who smiled, welcomed us to her hotel and started showing us the rooms...
We picked 2 that we liked, paid for our nights, got into bathing suits and went out to the Pool & Bar to relax...
AWESOME! The beach there is just wonderful, the pool was Great, the Pool bar was So nice to have... Pina Coladas!!
The accommodations are small houses and were perfect for us... Large and like a "beach house" more than "hotel" like... Breakfast was whatever we wanted! :) There were only a few others staying there so we ate alone mostly.

The hotel has Kayak's free to use that we used to paddle out to the small Caye right off the coast and did some pretty good snorkeling. One Hint: If you take a Kayak out there, make Sure you pick a good landmark to hone in on when paddling back! We did not and ended up like 2KM's from our hotel... :) And the Current returning was Tough! So leave a lot of time and do not come back too late...
The owners & staff were Awesome! We had car issues and the maintenance guy helped us. Everyone was So nice and personable, unlike many of the big resorts have become...

Placencia itself is a neat place to spend some day relaxing & playing...
We did the Monkey River tour, but it was a bit of a letdown after doing the Lamainai River trip...
It was like 2 hours on open water to get to Monkey River, 2 hours back, then only 1 hour actually in the river... Way too long coming/going to be worth it...
Rumfish was our favorite Restaurant/bar in town, but there are many so ask for recommendations based on what you like to eat and they will send you to the right places...
Thank You Maya Breeze for the Wonderful hospitality!

“Cozy getaway on the beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2011

We stayed at Maya Breeze inn for two nights having come from another guest house in San Ignacio. Initially we thought that we wouldn't like our stay but adjusted once we settled in. The cabana's were clean and the hotel staff and owner were very friendly and welcoming. It was very quiet and the other guests kept to themselves. The only drawback we had was that there was no breakfast. We had to trek to the local restaurant partly because we timed our visit around Belizean independence day and because the Inn no longer served breakfast. Placencia is a great holiday destination. The Maya breeze inn offers great beach front and also canoeing for those that dare venture to the island across the water. If you looking for a relaxing getaway to read your book by the pool or beach, order drinks at the bar, go bird watching etc... without breaking the bank this is the place for you. My wife and I enjoyed it for these attributes.
