“Beautiful, relaxing, wonderful staff!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

My husband and I went for our honeymoon in last May. We stayed at the Singing Sands for almost a week in Cabana 2. The cabana's cozy and comfortable. We didn't have air conditioning, but if you open the window slats and have the ceiling fan on, the ocean breeze keeps it pretty comfortable. The staff there are very helpful and friendly. The restaurant there, The Bonefish Grill was great. We were so happy with it we ended up eating most of our meals there. Between the pool, restaurant, bar and beach. We ended up spending many days not leaving much at all. One of our favorite things to do at night was walk out to the end of the pier and watch the thunder and lightning storms roll over the mountains. I wish I could give more details, I should have written this review right after we got back. All I can say is I'd recommend the Singing Sands to anyone traveling to Belize. We hope to make it back someday.

We really enjoyed our stay at Singing Sands Inn. We stayed in Cain #3 - with a great ocean view, clean and comfortable. We were there during the Thanksgiving holiday and had the place, virtually, to ourselves. The bartenders (Eddy especially) were friendly and made you feel like you were at your neighborhood bar. Make sure to try the fritters during happy hour, we had them a few times! We had dinner at the restaurant twice, both fantastic meals! The hotel is in Maya Beach (about 6 miles from Placenia proper), accessible by bus, bikes and golf cart. The hotel has bikes to use, make sure to pick one with a proper fit. There are a few restaurants (Maya Beach Hotel was amazing), bars and market within walking distance - worth a walk to check them out. The pool is refreshing in the afternoon after some time on the beach in the sand. The hotel offers tours, we took advantage of the Monkey River tour during our stay, a great half-day trip. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it as an alternative to staying in Placencia (make sure to visit Tutti Frutti in Placencia for some of the best gelato outside of Italy). Make sure to bring baby oil - the noseums can be a pain (mosquito repellent doesn't work, but you will need it too).

Having never been out of the US, I wanted something a little off beat for my first foray into the world. Belize was just that. An unpolished gem.

We arrived at the Placencia airport and we were greeted by a very nice taxi driver named Cornell. He took us to the Singing Sands where we met Maya and she checked us in. Right away it was evident that we were going to love our 10 days here.

The resort itself is very well maintained and the staff is so incredibly helpful. Orbando, Edison, Sevilla, and Ever were so accommodating and friendly. We really do miss them. It was so much fun laughing with them at the bar. They are just kind hearted, decent folks.

The only negative I had while there was getting to Placencia by golf cart. For me, riding through Seine Bight at night was very scary. I don't know if this is because I'm a novice traveler or what. I felt very intimidated going through there like something bad could happen at any moment. Again they could be great people, I just didn't want to stick around and find out.

Actually there was another negative. The bugs!!! I must have tasted like Creme Brulee to those no see ums. We wore OFF but it wasn't nearly enough.

I would recommend taking a stroll down the sidewalk in Placencia. There is a fellow named Tyrone there that makes hand carved wood pieces that are truly works of art. Just watch out for a Rasta looking guy going by Wayne or Dennis. He is a crook and cannot be trusted. Don't buy what he is selling.

Since we were in Belize for relaxation we didn't do many excursions. We did make it to Luubantun and Num Li Punit mayan sites. Seeing these or other Mayan sites in person cannot be missed. The work that was involved in building these sites is mind boggling.

Singing Sands was the perfect getaway for us and we would go back in a heartbeat. I often find myself daydreaming of being there. Definitely recommended for folks not looking for big resort, Sandals type ambiance. I was so laid back after being in Belize that I had a hard time adjusting back to life in the US.

My wife and I stayed here over Christmas. A beautiful garden setting with an excellent beach. The buildings and equipment were all high quality and in excellent condition. The service and food was excellent. We very much enjoyed our stay.

we stayed 1 week in the Singing Sands. What a wonderful little, private resort. If you expect a Hilton or Ritz this is the wrong place, but people who love it a bit smaller, personal service and exotic will find exactly this. We stayed in a little cabana right on the beach. The Cabana has a decent size and is very clean. the whole resort gives you a mix of beach front and rainforest feeling with all these plants around. You can relax in a hammock or on a sunbed right at the beach or rest at the end of a peer under or next to a huge Tikkihut right in the Caribbean sea. You can use the resorts kayaks as well as bikes. You probably need a car or other vehicle because it is probably 15 minutes out of Placencia but near Maya Beach.
The Cabanas have no TV but probably this is because they are screened and TVs probably would be too noisy for neighbors.
The restaurant that serves a good range for breakfast, lunch and dinner is nice and has sea and pool view. the bar is cozy and offeres a good range of drinks and cocktails.
Overall a very recommendable place. We definitely enjoyed it very much and would come anytime back again.

We stayed at Singing Sands for a week at the end of Nov 2012 and found that it lived up to all of the great reviews here on Tripadvisor. Be aware that this is not a Marriott or Hilton, there is no swim up bar or casino- just fantastic service and a place to take a break. The staff was great and Orbando and Edison make a great team at the bar (Try the Espresso Martini after dinner!). The food at the Bonefish grille is crazy good and will make you wish you could take the cook (Domingo) home with you! I you enjoy a nice relaxing place where you do not feel rushed or crowded, head on down to Singing Sands- you will not be disappointed!

Room Tip: We stayed in Cabana 1 and have to say it is the best location but any of the seafront Cabanas are ni...

My quote "This is probably one of the most beautiful places I've been in my life!" That being said, it wasn't the place for us. Too isolated, a good long trip to Placencia ($40 Belize cab ride one way). many other problems that didn't appeal to us. We are early risers and like to watch the sunrise but couldn't get a cup of coffee until 7:30. Bonefish Grill = excellent food but a bit pricey and the only option unless to take an expensive cab ride into Placencia. We like to mingle with the locals and that was just not an option. We stayed one night out of 4 then moved into Placencia where there were many many more options for us. No A/C or TV in rooms led to some pretty boring down time when the rain prevented us from using the beach. This is a truly Beautiful place, for someone who just wants to relax and take it easy, fantastic, and there are lots of options that can be arranged through the front desk (All the standard activities like snorkeling, ruin tours etc) as well as a beautiful beach, pool, kayaks and bicycles for rent. Would be better in the summer season as the rain limited alot of activities for us. Would be a GREAT place for some, was not for us.

Room Tip: Don't take Cabana 5, problems with hot water!
