My wife and I had a grand stay at the Green Parrot during May. We were looking for a place where we could just relax on the beach (which the Parrot has the best in the area, that we saw), take a few trips, and relax at night after a fine meal (which they all were).
If you are looking for night life - try another spot. If you are looking to relax, have a great chat with the bar tender (Ruben) or listen to some discusson about Belize from the manager (Leo), then this is the place to be.
Do you want French food? Go to France. Do you want home cooked food from Belize - go to the Green Parrot beachfront open restaurant. Every day there is somthing new on the menu - why, because they buy the stuff fresh ever day from the local vendors. None of the frozen stuff. All fruits and vegies are picked the day you eat them. So you just wait for dinner to see if the fresh red snapper came in from the fisherman off the coast - he actually drops the stuff off at the dock!
Rooms are clean and are cleaned daily. The property is very well maintained and is very clean.
No TV so you may have to talk to people.
Tours are fun. We like the one to Monkey River. Great tour guide we had named, Clive. He knows his stuff about the area and the wild life. Nice to eat at his mothers diner in Monkey River - great rice and beans.
I guess the question is - would we come back. You bet we would! When you leave you feel like you are part of the family. Also we felt on our next trip we would stay longer. They actually have a nice little library that we borrowed from. If you are coming bring a couple of extra books to leave with them. They have a hard time getting books in Belize - the owners actually bring them down from the U.S.
So I hope this review helps in your planning.
