“Luxurious and homey”

My husband and two kids arrived in Placencia and decided to stay in a three bedroom apartment at the Marisol villa. The apartment was spotless, had air conditioning (a luxury after a week on remote islands in the humidity and the heat of the summer), the staff helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. The pool with the little cabana was a hit with the kids. Loved the full kitchen and was excited to be able to use the fridge to store the fruits and food we would buy from the market. The apartment also had a laundry room with washer and dryer.
Marisol is located within walking distance from great restaurants, some ran by American expats, fresh markets and the airport.
Highly recommend it.

Liked best: Staff was very helpful, apartment was spotless, it had all the amenities needed for traveling with two young kids.
Liked least: Kitchen did not have any basic ingredients for cooking. No salt, no oil, no sugar. You have to purchase every little spice/ ingredient you may need to cook with. Would be willing to pay a little extra to have basic things available.

“LOVE LOVE LOVED IT!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2011 for a stay in January 2011

We came to Placencia in one day from Flores, Guatemala, and since we knew it was going to be a long day, we elected to have a van pick us up at the airport (pricey, but worth it). The pickup was also arranged through Caribbean Tours and Travel. Their office is on the first floor with the Yellow House being the second floor. This was super convenient because we could pop in whenever we wanted to ask questions about tours or the town or just to chat with Aretha (she´s awesome!).

Placencia itself is amazing, and while I´m sure it´s nice to stay out of town in one of the fancy (and expensive) resorts, we LOVED the location of the Yellow House. It is literally in the middle of town, so we could walk everywhere. My only complaint was that the house didn´t have a coffee pot, but I ended up buying one rather than drink instant coffee every morning (you´re welcome!).

This place was an AMAZING value. Why would you spend more money for a hotel when you can have a nice, clean house with a full kitchen and 2 decks?
