“Great value, great stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2013 for a stay in October 2013

Rooms: I was overall impressed, we stayed in the upper apartment that did not have AC. If you don't tolerate heat well, this does get really warm during midday (there are two lower rooms with AC) The manager provided fans and we were just fine. The apartment itself was very big and with three of us there was more than enough room. The kitchen had all we needed and we cooked quite a few meals because of that. The only complaint I would have is that the beds were not very comfortable, hard as a rock. It would not deter me from saying this is a great option for a rental.

View: You can't quite see the ocean aside from a few small holes in the trees/bushes. The back balcony with the hammocks more than made up for it though! I think that little haven was one of the highlights of our stay in Placencia. We spent hours lounging and listening to music.

Location: The location is great and located within walking distance of all the things you will want to do in Placencia itself. Granted the town isn't that big in the first place.

Overall, I would recommend staying here as it was a great value!

Thanks very much for your review!
I am sorry you found the beds uncomfortable. Had I known, I could have supplied a special cover for the mattress to soften it.

The bushes and trees have all just been cut back now and there is a clear view of the ocean. Everything grows at an amazing rate here!

“Perfect!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2013 for a stay in July 2013

Property has three different apartments, all are different sizes so you are sure to find one that fits your needs and budget! I stayed in the small downstairs apartment for 5 weeks in July/August 2013. The location is perfect-steps from the beach, right on the sidewalk, and close to the main road. It's not so close that you get noise from any of the bars or restaurants, though. The fence around the property keeps local souvenir-sellers from stopping by to bug you. Everything within town is within walking distance, although there are golf carts and bikes for rent if you so desire. Angie had a cab pick me up at the airport so I didn't have to wander around town trying to find the property. Everything I needed and then some was provided-towels, beach towels, bug spray, sun screen, chairs for the beach, containers for leftovers if you decide to cook occasionally, a map of the local area with operating hours and times, fish/bird ID cards. Angie even had a local cell phone I could use if I wanted. The TV has more channels than mine at home (nice for those occasional rainy days), and the wifi was fast. The property is very well maintained, and Angie made sure everything stayed perfect for the duration of my stay, even loaning me a very nice fish ID book when she found out I was a scuba diver. I cannot imagine staying anywhere else in Placencia!

“As comfortable as it gets”

Angie is a terrific hostess. She's accomodating, interesting and fun to talk with. If you're interested in local info beyond the beach/water, Angie can provied an encyclopedic aray of info about Placencia. Studio apartment is nice layout with good A/C, furniture and fixtures and cleanest place I stayed during month in Central America. Located right on the Caribbean side of the "Sidewalk" near the southern end, it's comfortably close to everything one needs during a "kick back and relax" type of vacation. The one bedroom, 2nd floor apartment appeared terrific, especially for longer stays or larger groups.

“The hammock is out-of-this-world peaceful.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2013 for a stay in May 2013

Angie is helpful, honest and conscientous. She steered us in the right direction for tours, groceries, dining, transport. The apartment on the second floor was spacious, homey, comfortable, quirky. Great shower! It has no AC, but that went unnoticed thanks to the incessant breeze from the carribean. I spent hours reading in a hammock on the ocean-side porch; ate meals there, watching the frigate birds hang and soar, sat there at dusk listening to the geckos squawk at each other.
EVERYTHING was within walking distance. The area is an out-of-the-way, tiny fishing village in southern Belize, convenient to a few Mayan ruins and lovely reefs. The locals are a mixed bag of ex-pats and Belizeans - friendly and willing to engage in relaxed conversation. In early May, the beach was almost completely deserted. Occupy your time with day-sailing, snorkeling, sunbathing, river tours. Get out of the sun in any one of several friendly open-air bars or restaurants, but DO get out of the sun after a few hours. A truely relaxing change of pace. Planning a return visit.

“UNBELIEZABLE”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2013 for a stay in April 2013

The whole stay was great. The weather was unusually hot for this time of year ( 105F+-) the whole stay. That did not interfere with our comfort at the apt. The ceiling fans and the tradewinds kept us comfortable. The rest of our comfort came from our host Angie. She catered to our every need. We did not need much as the apt was very well furnished with the items that you needed and many others that you might not expect were also there. We stayed in the upstairs Apt. but had the oppurtunity to view the downstairs as well, any everyone was in excellent shape.I can not say enough about our stay it was by far one of our better trips and would highly recommend it. If you do go be sure to say hello to Angie and give her a hug from Mike and Bonnie. Don't forget to book your side trips through Ocean Motion and say Hi to LaVerne also.

“Awesome!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2013 for a stay in February 2013

This was our first stay at The Flamboyant Tree Apt. Third trip to Placencia. We stayed in the upstairs apartment (#1). From the moment we booked the two weeks (last July), Angie was communicative and very accommodating. Upon our arrival, Angie was waiting at the airport for us, had Belikans in the fridge, and a good walk thru. (from here the wife takes over, I thought the accommodations were excellent...Charlie).

Angie was a very accommodating hostess with everything needed for a 'care-free' stay: sunblock, bug spray, beach chairs (the envy of everyone else on the beach) and the list goes on and on...

While there is no air conditioning in the upstairs unit, it had ceiling fans; between the fans and the tradewinds...we were very comfortable. That's not usually the case for folks from Oregon.

Angie took care of the outside of the property throughout our stay and was available (with fresh linens and towels) at the perfect times.

Our only regret is that we (probably) won't return to The Flamboyant until next February.

Thank you Angie!
Charles and Deanna

“This apartment was peaceful, quiet, spotless and comfortable and felt just like home.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2013 for a stay in December 2012

My daughter and I stayed in the smallest (one bedroom) apartment downstairs for a month. We loved that it was right in the village. There were plenty of great places to eat and shop all along the sidewalk. The beach was only two minute walk down a sandy trail behind the house. The neighborhood was quiet and it was very safe for two women traveling alone. No dogs barking or roosters crowing at night! The AC was a blessing after a full day in the sun. The kitchen is well equipped and we were able to make most of own meals for the time we were there. Angie, the owner, is the nicest person and provides awesome service. She picked us up at the Municipal Airport and even loaned us a cell phone so we could call her if we needed anything or had questions. We highly recommend this place for anyone who wants to stay right in the village and still enjoy a quiet stay. Suzanne and Deanne
