While I was in Placencia, I went to Tutti Frutti twice. It was that good. I think they actually travel to Italy each year. I haven't enjoyed gelato this much since Capogiro in college.
The first time, I had mango, banana, and pistachio, all of which were excellent. When I went back, I was disappointed at first because they didn't have the pistachio (it was so good), so I had soursop, coconut, and Baileys. While the coconut and Baileys were both delicious, the soursop was my favorite. It was really refreshing. I'd had soursop (the fruit itself) that morning, and although I liked the flavor, the texture is a little unusual. In the gelato, however, it was perfect - that cold, creamy texture combined with the clean, bright flavor of soursop.
I'm sure I can get excellent gelato in Chicago, but I doubt I'll be able to find a soursop gelato, particularly one that good. The next time I'm in Placencia, I will definitely be going back to Tutti Frutti.
