The ambiance was OK, the service was just tolerable, but fortunately the food was excellent. Service was definitely the low point. We hung around awkwardly for a few minutes as no one came to seat us, nor was there a "seat yourself" sign. Having to take our order was very clearly an inconvenience (though to give what's due, our order was taken promptly), and we weren't offered any drinks. I understand they don't have a liquor license (which is no big deal for us), but I would have expected a glass of water. We thought someone else would come to take soft drink orders and deliver water, but no one did until we went up to the desk and asked.
My husband has been taking advantage of the fresh lobster option while we're here. He said his lobster at Omar's was the best he has had in Belize. It was clearly the largest, and the price was slightly less than average. I had grouper with Creole sauce. It was a little salty, but really delicious. I loved the blend of spices, and the rice and fish were very good. Our daughter had burritos. She also found them a bit salty, but she finished every bit in one sitting, which doesn't usually happen. She obviously enjoyed them.
All in all, the excellent food was worth a visit to Omar's restaurant. We felt the prices were reasonable for the quality food we received.
