My new wife and I had the time of our lives hanging out with the good people at Coco Plum. The food was excellent, the service was excellent, the fishing was excellent, the staff was excellent, the island was excellent, the drinks were excellent, the water was excellent, the private valentines day dinner was excellent. Excellent.

I should have written this weeks ago...sorry y'all! Work got in the way (yuk!) I planned this vacation back in 2012. We made reservations for the summer of 2013, but had to cancel due to a death in the family. We were so looking forward to that trip. My wife hadn't had a true vacation for quite some time because of her dad's illness. She NEEDED a get away. But, we had to reschedule and chose the end of January 2014, which ended up absolulely PERFECT! The look on my wife's face when we stepped off the boat made it all worth while. We even got to ride over to the island with its OWNERS - very cool! Then, when we left, they road back to the mainland with us. They are wonderful folks and we can't wait to go back and visit with them again.

I'll try not to repeat what most everyone says, but how many synonyms for "Amazing" can there be? We immediately fell in love with the island. We were greeted by the island manager, Gill and Crystal (spelling?) who gave us a quick tour - but not until Sergio showed up with his welcome drink (Mosquito bite) - which ended up being my favorite beverage for the whole week! Sergio and George(io) even taught me and Ben (Ben & Kim) how to make them. You two guys ROCK by the way! So much fun and always smiling! My wife's favorite drink ended up being the Panty Ripper (appropriatly named - but I can't go into that here ;) ) which Sergio and Georgio also taught Ben and I how to make.

The dinner staff (Hi Miss Rene and Heidi!) were wonderful. They always had a smile on their faces and would take the time to get to know each and every visitor to the island. Wonderful folks! Great food and good portions. And, if you want more, all you have to do is ask. The chefs (Miss Sue and Miss Jude) rarely come out to visit, but if you get the chance try to meet with them. If I could rate the food, I'd have to give it a 10+, and I am very fussy (whiny??).

We met the most amazing folks during our short (too short) stay on the island. Out of 14 cabanas, there were only 6 other couples when we first arrived. Two more couples joined us over the next day or two. We quickly made friends with all of them and enjoyed every moment together. We connected in such a way that we are already planning a 5 year reunion trip, to meet up with them again. Great folks, and even better memories.

Ben & Kim, Chris & Jen, Will & Carrie, Biggie & Ginger, Jim & Cheryl, Chris & Shannon, Matt (we now call him "Hoop") & Christie (sp?) - and another couple who left the day after we arrived...thank for making our trip so memorable. We look forward to meeting again when we take over the island in 5 years!!

We only opted for one inland tour (they literally take all day). We went on the zip-line and cave tubing trip. All I can say is AWESOME. We opted out of the Mayan tour so we could spend our last full day on the island and just rest. WE did go on 3 snorkeling trips to the reefs and had great guides each time. Lots of fun. I highly suggest booking a fishing trip! Chris and Jen went the day before us and set the catch-bar pretty high. They went trolling and had a great time. Jen out-fished Chris...sorry dude! My wife and I went drop fishing and came back with 35+ fish that we shared with the island staff. Yes, my wife out-fished me too (hush Chris!). We had a great time! Chris (Shannon) and Matt (Christie) also went fishing and did VERY well.
Well worth the extra money in our opinion.

To all of the staff and support personnel, we thank you for making our 25th anniversary trip so memorable. All of the behind-the-scenes workers kept the island so clean and beautiful. They did a great job and we appreciate all of you very much. We absolutely fell in love with the island, the staff, our new friends and the country of Belize. We are now actually planning to return in 2 years with friends from Oklahoma - but will still hold true to our promise of returning in 5 years to meet up with our new friends (nah, their more like family now!).

Whether is be for a honeymoon, anniversary, romantic get-a-way or just checking out of your hectic life for a bit, we highly recommend Coco Plum Island Resort.

We will be back. Again, and again, and again...just prior to retiring on the mainland!!!

Room Tip: All of the cabanas are perfect. Ours was a good walk to the dining all and bar, but we never notice...

Coco Plum is by far the best place that we have ever visited!! Belize is fantastic and the culture is very open and friendly! We met the most amazing friends on the island- both guests and staff. We were actually married on Coco Plum, and our wedding service could not have been more perfect! We walked down the aisle to local drummers, our ceremony was perfectly done, followed by champagne and flowers and cake boated in from the mainland. Our pictures were taken at sunset by a local photographer, who were also our witnesses since my husband I eloped!!, and we are still in tough with them. SUCH an amazing experience and a true vacation and paradise. Everything is all inclusive, so you eat/drink/play/nap/hammocks everywhere/dolphins/nurse sharks/manatees/amazing guided snorkeling and diving! Our wedding dinner was at the end of a long pier, in the middle of the ocean, candle light, with 8 sting rays swimming around our dock peacefully after sunset. It was heaven. The water is crystal clear and the island is EXTREMELY clean, incredibly soft sand. I don't think we wore shoes for a week! Including during our ceremony!
You can choose to make life long friends with other couples, and the island is very small so you can really get to know eachother- or you can have entire days without spending time with other people at all and exploring the island with your new husband. Kayaks, a hobie cat, kites!, hammocks, GREAT fishing, amazing sea life, WONDERFUL staff!!!, the 2 best bar tenders on the PLANET, the FOOD- I forgot to mention the food!! EVERY single meal was probably the best meal we'd ever had and we couldn't wait for the next one- Jude and her team really know their cooking!!, - we really couldn't say more about our experience with Coco Plum! Even Nicole who helped us book our trip answered every question we had so wonderfully and patiently, helped us contact the justice of the peace for our wedding, and was SO pleasant!! Ervin and George serving us champagne and who we toasted after becoming husband and wife- they are like family forever in my heart.
Also- our DAY trips! This place is full of adventures and you can choose to go into town for cave tubing, zip lining, Mayan ruins, etc- or even skip out to just relax in a hammock hanging over the warm ocean water with a soft breeze and a book.
One other part- our room was BEAUTIFUL! Right on the water, cleaned daily, fresh towels, sheets, water and a kitchenette in the room, HOT water with great pressure and beautifully furnished bathrooms! It was like 5 start accommodations out in the middle of the ocean and heaven!!
Can't say enough- this place is amazing and we will definitely be back!!

Room Tip: Every single cabana was the best view on the island! We were in the sunset room and LOVED it!

From start to finish our time at Coco Plum was absolutely perfect. The staff is extremely friendly and will do whatever they can to ensure that your stay is to your liking. By the end of our trip, we were already friends with most of the staff.

The water is absolutely beautiful. No picture can really show how beautiful this place is. We were able to see nurse sharks, sting rays, tropical fish, and even a small crocodile all from the island! I was a little worried about the food because my husband isn't a big fan of seafood. However, we both enjoyed every meal we had during our stay. The bartenders at Coco Plum are all so much fun. They also can work some magic with the local rums. The drinks are quite tasty, but can be a bit strong. Feel free to order some of them "light".

We stayed for 10 days and went on the cave tubing/ziplining and Mayan ruins tours. Each tour has a decent drive across the countryside, which allows you to see some beautiful views of Belize. I highly recommend both of these trips, especially if you haven't done something like them before. The snorkeling trips were shorter than the land tours, but very fun. We saw tropical fish, crabs, lobsters, barracuda and rays.

Overall, Coco Plum was a blast. Each day was well spent, whether we wanted to explore Belize on the land tours, or just lay out in the sun and enjoy the beautiful view. The island is just small enough to give the privacy that we wanted, while still having enough couples there to make a few friends. We were already talking with some other couples on the island about coming back for a reunion tour! We will definitely be returning to another perfect stay on Coco Plum!

Room Tip: We stayed in Stingray and loved it. We were far from the bar which can be noisy at times now due to...

Honestly, I can't say much that hasn't been said before. The island is gorgeous, so much better in person than in photos. We loved it so much we actually skipped out on a tour to hang out in the water and watch the nurse sharks and eagle rays drift by.

For future reference (oh, we will go back!), here's what I wish I'd known ahead of time:

- There are mini fridges in the rooms! Bring snacks, get drinks at the airport, etc. We were never hungry or thirsty, but you are limited to what you have access to, and some variety might have been nice.
- Don't rely on their wine, it was all pretty terrible except for the sparkling wine we had. Bring your own!
- Bring a fun local t-shirt to write on for them to hang in the bar. We ended up using a men's undershirt, but I guess it's better than the men's underwear that are up there.
- Belize is amazing, but their vodka is terrible (sorry!). If vodka is your drink of choice, bring your own.
- Definitely go out fishing, we had the most amazing platter of freshly caught and blackened local fish - it was my favorite meal of all, by far!
- Book a longer trip than you think - we needed more time :-)

Thanks to all who made our trip so great, it really was an exceptional experience. There were 4 of us (two couples) and we all absolutely loved it, and are now ready to buy our own caye!

Room Tip: They're all the same - no worries on picking a room!

Coco Plum Island does get many, many gushing reviews and I can see why. It is a beautiful place. The people working there are simply wonderful. The food is adequate (some things extremely delicious) and if you really object to something...like fish for breakfast... they will accommodate you. Miss Sue is so nice and she loves it when you visit her in the kitchen. One day she fried up a mess of sardines at lunch time that her husband Crispin netted a few hours before. They were not on the menu but was requested by one of the guests. They were out of this word delicious. We just stood in the kitchen and munched away. Crispin took the hotel guest out on the boat to get them! He is the fishing guide and snorkel guy- he is superb human being, has a caring face and clear happy eyes...he a deep love of the sea and all it's bounty. He is an accomplished artist in shell and coral carving. He genuinely like to make you happy.
Bella our waitress was wonderful and always with a beautiful smile. Heidi her assistant, is a cute an d beautiful girl and is very pleasant. The bar guys, Sergio and George are simply....CRAZY!
You have to have your guard up otherwise you will be feeling "off the charts" before you know it.
The drawback to the place is the water. It is not very nice place for swimming, very shallow and weedy. We were under the impression from comments on trip advisor that the snorkeling was good right at the resort but it was non existent. The reefs they take you to are OK but if the weather is off ie windy then they are murkey and very few fish. Of 6 times on trips 3 were not very good, 2 were nice and one was fantastic....that was on the outer side of the barrier reef. Perhaps there is a correlation that when you go with Crispin...it is to a good spot but when it is with Seth it is not so good.
The other drawback is that when you have bad weather the place is very boring. But hey they can't control the weather so it is not the people's fault. If they knew they could do a dance to make it better they would!
Anyway not likely we would go back mostly due to the quality of the water at the island itself.

We fell in love with Coco Plum as soon as we arrived on the island! I don't even know where to begin, we literally loved everything about the resort. The staff is absolutely amazing! They will assist you with anything you might need... fishing gear, kayaks, food, and of course, drinks (which I must add are amazing)! My favorite part about the resort was the easygoing and laid back atmosphere at Coco Plum. If you want to do your own thing and get away for a bit there are plenty of places for that (kayak to the uninhabited island next "door"). If you are feeling adventurous take a snorkeling trip or an excursion into town. If you want to hang out by the bar all day and play games, then feel free. There is something for everyone here! We are certainly looking forward to returning!

Room Tip: We stayed in Rainforest, which is the first cabana closest to the bar and restaurant. We LOVED being...
