“Believe the hype.”

We started to settle on Coco Plum for our honeymoon when we learned that it was a tiny island with space for only 20 guests, but we finalized our decision after seeing how overwhelmingly positive the reviews were. Still, though, we wondered - could this place possibly live up to the buzz?

Um, YES.

Stepping onto Coco Plum was like stepping straight into a postcard. The white sand, the vibrantly colored flowers, the lush foliage, and the jade green waters had us floored. Our cabana was absolutely adorable and perfectly climate controlled. Then came the food. Good grief, the food! The portions were not large, but they were delicious and sized to keep you from feeling full and sluggish. We never got too hungry between meals. One of the most standout features of the resort was its staff. Every staff member we met immediately asked our names, and addressed us by them for the rest of the trip. They were funny and warm and made us feel like they were excited to have us there. When we missed the chance to take a photo with one of our waiters before leaving, we were genuinely disappointed - he was such a big part of what made our stay so enjoyable.

For such a tiny island, there was quite a lot to do. Sea kayaks are waiting to be taken out any time of day. Snorkel trips go out most days, and on some days more than one trip is available. There are nearby islands to explore. There are snorkels, masks, and fins available for no charge in case you'd like to paddle around in the waters around the island. There are scheduled day trips to the mainland for jungle zip-lining, river cave tubing, and Mayan temple exploring. (Bernard, our driver and guide, was extremely knowledgeable.)

For those that would prefer to take it easy, however, they will find Coco Plum a perfect choice. Cabanas are placed far enough apart that guests can feel they are given some privacy, and the island is quite large for the small number of guests it accommodates. Just grab a drink from the open air bar, stretch out in your beachfront chaise lounge, and listen to the soft and constant noises of the sea.

We came back from our trip just bursting to recommend Coco Plum to everyone we knew. We couldn't have made a better choice.

For a look at the island, you can check out the video we posted on YouTube to show our family and friends...

Coco Plum Island was a great vacation! We liked the mix of adventerous activities that were offered, and also relaxing on the beach. We took the canoes out often...there were always some available.
We loved the privacy of having our own cabana, and the views could not be beat!!! It was comfortable and cozy!
We were surprised, and pleased with the food, and the amount of food that was served at each meal. My fiance has a large appetite, and we were concerned that the meals would not satisfy his appetitie, to say the least. We never walked away from any meal not completely full! The food was delicious too. Everything was excellent!
The bartenders were beyond pleasant and enjoyable! They certainly kept the drinks flowing as well :)
We cannot say enough good things about Coco Plum Island...and highly recommend it!

Room Tip: All of the cabanas are great!

I am not sure where to begin...the water was so clear, you can see right to the bottom. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The food was great. Walking around the island you can see star fishes, barracuda, nurse shark, manatees. The list goes on. We went snorkelling every other day and saw amazing corals and ocean creatures. Crispin was great and very knowledgeable. His conch ceviche was amazing. We felt right at home in our cabana. Everything was amazing and we can not wait to come back again. It is truly a piece of paradise.

Room Tip: All the cabanas are great, 10 steps from the ocean

That was the question Byron asked my husband and I upon arrival at the Dangriga airport. We definitely were and indeed Coco Plum was! We stayed 8 days on the island and loved each one! There are a multitude of activities to choose from or you can relax on the beach listening to the waves. We snorkeled twice while there, kayaked around the island as well as neighboring ones, and enjoyed two excursions to the mainland (Mayan ruins and ziplining/cave tubing). Technically there should have been 3 snorkeling trips included in our package but due to the water being too rough on some days, we went twice. The snorkeling was good so I'd recommend that whenever the water is calm enough to take advantage of it. We also took a fishing trip with Francisco and his first mate Joshua. We're used to fishing in small lakes so this was quite an experience for us with nonstop action catching snapper, grouper, jackfish, baracuda!!!, and many more! You get to pick which fish to eat for dinner that night and they take care of the rest. It was a treat! Sergio, Leo and Ervin take good care of you at the bar. They don't mess around with that rum! Sergio makes a good Horny Monkey and Belikin stout is the way to go for beer. We enjoyed each meal we were served. The ladies in the kitchen sure know how to cook. They are well balanced and made from scratch. Tip: Renee offered us hot sauce with everything, including spaghetti but have no fear, try it and you will see why! A dab'll do ya! Overall, it was a fantastic vacation and we felt like guests and employees treated each other like friends and family. Hope to one day return!

Room Tip: The rainforest cabana is closest to the bar/dining which I could hear music thumping on some nights...

We came back last week from an amazing honeymoon at Coco Plum. Words can't describe how beautiful that place is and how great the staff was. My husband and I enjoyed everything on the island and we actually got to meet the owner who was very nice and even bought us top shelf drinks. The food is great, they give you enough food, but if you want more you just have to ask. Samuel served us breakfast, lunch, and dinner everyday, he was so great… I actually cried when I left because I will really miss him. All the staff at Coco Plum, Rudy, Samuel, Sergio, Ervin, Red, and everyone else I am forgetting, they all made our trip one of the best we ever had. We will go back next year for sure! We love the food and accommodations but most of all the staff. Thank you Coco Plum, we miss you already!

Couldn't have asked for a more relaxing vacation! Everything was taken care of. Beautiful island - looks exactly as it does on the website. Couldn't complain about anything.

My boyfriend and I wanted to find a vacation destination that was secluded, had private cabanas, excellent snorkeling, and was a great place to do some relaxing. After a lot of searching we found Coco Plum and were very excited. Coco Plum was as private as you wanted it to be. There were many places to relax on your own. My only complaint with the beach was that I would have rather had the grass/plants cleared away on the edge of the beach so we could just lay in the sand. The water was beautiful though and we had great weather all week! Our snorkeling guides were great and made us feel safe and were able to show us a lot of different species of fish. The food was very good as well. We were worried about getting hungry, but there was plenty of food. Three meals and two snacks a day. The dining staff/bar staff were excellent. We were able to get fresh coconuts daily to drink the coconut water out of-which my boyfriend and I both love. Neither of us are drinkers, but it seemed that almost everyone else was and would hang out at the bar all day. We made the trip to the Mayan Ruins. The Mayan Mountains were beautiful, but be prepared because the country has a lot of poverty. The Mayan Ruins were awesome and something my boyfriend and I were looking forward to seeing. The description said this trip was moderate level activity, but I think it would be difficult for some older people to climb up the ruins because the stairs are steep with no side rail. Our private cabana was very nice and was cleaned daily by the staff. Be prepared because you are not allowed to flush toilet paper down the toilet in Belize due to the poor septic system. You throw your TP in the trash, which was a bit of a surprise, but no big deal! We were sad to leave the beautiful island and had so much fun together. I would definitely recommend Coco Plum to anyone looking for a great place to relax and enjoy the beautiful tropical water!
