“Spoilt at Serenity Sands!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2013

Serenity Sands was recommended by a friend, so I knew we were going to these out of this world breakfasts, beautifully clean decorated rooms (all the furniture is made by local Belizeans) with private balconies and a private beach.
It is extremely Eco friendly, everything natural, right down to the shampoo and conditioner!
It is a little out of town, but we loved the peace and serenity, the private beach, the wonderful helpful friendly owners.
The rescue animals all have their own story, even down to the parrot.
The dogs will actually walk you to the beach.
If you are into helping the needy Belizean children you can bring school supplies and deliver to the school Serenity Sands supports.
You can use their kayaks, or go for a sail around the bay with the neighbour . Bikes also available for a jungle ride.
Our trips were arranged for us and we even had a massage on the private beach!

Penny indeed does the best to make her guests feel like robinson crusoes on a remote, and yet truly serene and romantic island. It is one of the best places to stay on the mainland coast of the Corazal Bay.

Room Tip: If you want more comfort, ask for a room in the main house. If you are a bigger group (we were five...

Absolutely lovely. The rooms are to die for, clean spacious suites well decorated and excellent linens. Thene's breakfast -- Penny makes it fresh every morning including fresh squeezed OJ. The wind and solar were somewhat limiting, but we adjusted quickly and there just isn't a better accommodation in Corozal ! Thanks Penny, for a lovely stay. There was so much for us to see and do, that we didn't get to enjoy your beach and grounds as much as we would have liked. Next time!!!

Room Tip: Best suites are Orchid and Toucan as the decks are wrap around.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Serenity Sands with our gracious hosts, Penny and Don. The large room and wrap around balcony with views of the trees and birds was the nicest we've stayed in within Belize. The organic foods for breakfast were amazing - Penny is a really great cook. We appreciated the wind and solar power, mangrove-friendly beach, and the environmentally friendly bath and cleaning products as well. We had started to miss our dog by that point so we quickly made Kiwi, Benji, and Chico our new dog friends! Yago, the parrot, was hilarious - get him to laugh or do a wolf-call. The hosts were great about looking into tours for us and the sailing trip across the bay to Cerros was one of the highlights of our trip. Kayaking around the bay was great fun as well. Sitting under the palapas on the beach in the hammock chair or hammock listening to the waves and doing some birding was very relaxing. Loved all of it - thanks Penny and Don!

Room Tip: The orchid room had a huge balcony and was gorgeous!

WOW!!! What an awesome stay at Serenity Sands. If you are looking for piece, quiet and real relaxation this is the place for you.

The rooms are so beautifully decorated. Penny has put a lot of thought into everything. Even the great smelling bath products, which we loved and are Eco-friendly of course. The patio of the room was one of our highlights, huge with comfy chairs to sit at night and watch the thousands upon thousands of stars. It is very dark here at night and so quiet.

The grounds are beautiful, lots of trees and flowers. The beach a great place to read and take a nap in the hammock, which we did. With the sounds of the waves gently lapping on the shores.

Penny is the perfect hostess. It is safe to say making the decision to run a B&B was most definitely the right one for her. She is willing to sit and chat and answer our dozens and dozens of questions. Many I'm sure every guest asks. Thanks for your patience Penny. She offers beach towels, advice, suggestions for sights, restaurants and travel information you might require. We were looking into flying to one of the islands and she took the time to make the call on our behalf to find out prices and times. She offered us a place to leave our rental car, while we visited the island if we needed it. She also accepted phone calls on our behalf!

Then there are Penny's breakfasts...oh my goodness, each morning you wake up excited, anticipating what the menu will be that day. As you lay in bed or sit on your patio early in the morning the great smells of fresh baking waft up to tease your senses. Every morning is something different.

The sunrises were incredible, I took some amazing photos.

She has numerous cats, which were too bashful to hang with us...but the dogs, were great. Kiwi, Chico and Benj, we loved having them around. They greet you each time you arrive and love to walk down to the water with you in the early morning.

My husband has never been a fan of B&Bs, but we were scheduled to be here for two nights and we ended up doing 4 in the end. We just found this little part of northern Belize to be a bit of a peaceful Paradise!

For those worried about the whole "off grid" thing...you wouldn't even know it while you are there. We are already looking forward to our next visit to Belize and Serenity Sands.

Penny is also involved in the local schools and animal rescue. She is a caring and fun person, and it shows in the way she runs her business!!! So the next time you decide to visit Belize, drop in on Penny and all her furry friends!!!! Put up your feet, nap in the hammock and enjoy Paradise!!!!

Serenity Sands is the perfect place to stay when coming to Northern Belize. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and very clean. Our room had a huge balcony and we loved to sit outside in the evening watching the nightsky with all of the stars and enjoying a cold Belizean beer. The grounds are beautiful. We especially enjoyed the private beach overlooking Chetumal Bay and hanging out in the hammock under the palapa. Our hosts were gracious and made us feel more like family than guests. Penny loves to bake, so breakfast was wonderful and included baked goods, egg dishes and fresh juices. Penny can also arrange for day trips and for a driver to pick you up from the airport and take you back and forth to Corozal town. Serenity Sands is environmentally friendly using wind energy and organic products. Additionally, Penny and her husband are very involved in the town of Corozal supporting a local school, a hospital and animal rescue. As a matter of fact, you will find several furry friends at Serenity Sands to keep you company in the house or on the beach. So check out the Serenity Sands website and you might find yourself supporting one of their projects!

Birds chirping, breezes blowing, pictures postcard perfect. Add glasses of homemade frothy juice, delicious delightful breakfasts to a gracious welcoming stay and it just doesn't get much better! Sometimes coming home isn't all it's cracked up to be. :) Paula
