“Romantic jungle lodge”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2014

We absolutely loved our stay at Table Rock. We stayed in the River View Cabana with its panoramic views and secluded location. The owners and staff were uniformly gracious and made us feel special. The food was delicious and the private dinner arranged for our anniversary was over-the-top romantic. The tours were a blast and all well-arranged.

The gorgeous jungle location was just what we were looking for. It isn't for everyone though - there is no doubt you are in the middle of the jungle, so if you don't like encountering and hearing the natural residents (especially at night), you'd probably be better off somewhere else. Read the guest information packet first so you know what to expect. If you're looking for a romantic, Eco-friendly place with personalized service and amazing meals, and a chance to experience the jungle, Table Rock gets our highest recommendation.

Room Tip: The River View Cabana was the most secluded, with panoramic views of the jungle.

My husband and I vacationed at Table Rock Jungle Lodge in January for 5 nights and I cannot say enough about what a great experience it was!
From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel comfortable and welcome. The entire staff is so accomodating and friendly! The owners, Alan and Colleen, have really worked hard to carve out their own little slice of paradise! The grounds are fantastic and we enjoyed walking through the trails along the river and checking out the donkeys. Alan and Colleen work hard to mantain an eco-friendly, sustainable resort. There are no outlets in the rooms, but we found it easy to charge our cameras and phones at the outlets near the dining lodge.
We stayed 3 nights in a Garden View Cabana and then 2 nights in a Jungle View Cabana. They were both very nice, but the Jungle View Cabana offers a bit more privacy. If you can, the Jungle View Cabana is worth it!
We did purchase the meal plan and ate breakfast and dinner at the lodge each day. The food is exceptional! We loved to return from a day of adventure to have a few drinks with Alan and Colleen and the other guests to share stories before sitting down to a gourmet dinner! The Lodge is not too far from the city of San Ignacio and we also ventured into the city a few times to have lunch or dinner and do some souvenir shopping.
We were able to book all of our adventure tours through the staff at the Lodge. They make it so easy, and all of our tours were great! We recomend the ATM, Tikal, and cave toubing tours! Belize was experiencing a heavy rainy season when we were visiting and a few of our tours had to be rearranged, but the staff was always accomodating. They kept us informed and offered us alternative plans.
I cannot recomend Table Rock Jungle Lodge enough! It was a fantastic experience! A vacation unlike anything else!

Accommodations were good and the property is pretty & well-maintained. The staff were basically polite, though no one went out of their way. The drive is long on a very rough road, and we'd been told we'd have access to canoes - no one mentioned that if it rained in the hills then the canoes were not available due to a higher river. Bikes were available, but the roads in the area are impossible for biking, so don't plan to bike. We were so far out of town that there was little to do except walk - though there are some nice, short walks on the property. Another shock: food was VERY expensive, and everything is charged, including a cup of coffee in the morning. Though there were few alternatives, we found ways to eat meals elsewhere, and the staff ignored us when we chose not to purchase all our meals. Also, unlike most of Belize, they charge prices in dollars rather than Belizean currency - which makes everything more expensive. So be aware that you'll pay $25 per meal per person with NO discount for kids' meals (much more than our expenses for us and two kids elsewhere in Belize.) If you go, there's a nice lodge down the road that offers yoga classes, and if you drive a ways down the road you can go to a lovely butterfly farm. However, the staff at the lodge did not provide these suggestions for activities - we had to find things to do on our own.

Dear Renatte,
Alan and I would like to express our sincere apologies that your family's experience at Table Rock a year ago June was not what you expected it would be. We pride ourselves on giving attention to our guests without smothering them, so hearing that you felt ignored is a great disappointment to us. We apologize if we misinterpreted your needs. Please know that since your stay we have also had a change in some of our key staff members, so we have an even better and more attentive team to meet all your needs in 2014.
We are also sorry to hear that you were surprised by our meal prices. We try to be very upfront about these and have them clearly advertised on our website so that potential guests can assess all costs before deciding on a stay with us. We also offer half-price meals for children under 12 years of age--so please let us know if your children of this age were mistakenly charged full price and we will gladly give you a refund for any portions that were overcharged.
We would love to have the chance to show you all that's new at Table Rock for this year, including the addition of over a mile and a half of new hiking trails opening this fall, and our expanded restaurant hours and increased choices for dinner! We appreciate and value feedback from our former guests, and thank you for helping us find ways that we can improve.
With our very best regards,
Colleen & Alan Spring

My sister & I traveled to Belize spending 3 nights at Table Rock Jungle Lodge and 4 nights at the beach. Table Rock exceeded our expectations in every way. We had the King Jungle View Cabana with a queen futon – that was very comfortable. The room was decorated beautifully and there were hammock chairs out on the porch. Table Rock has 6 cabanas 4 are located on or near the main path to the office cabana and dining area. We were lucky enough to have a jungle view cabana that was off a little ways by itself. It was really cool waking up in the morning to the birds (starting about 5 AM) and inviting all their friends to the party. My sister heard howler monkeys during the night, but I slept right through them.

The owners, Colleen and Alan visit with guests each evening and at breakfast. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. Each evening they'd go over the details of our itinerary for the next day. The food and drinks were very good. When we got to the beach I sent an e-mail telling them how much I missed Sarah’s mojitos!

The smaller resort gives you a chance to chat with other guests about the day's outing but it was in no way intrusive. We did the two temples tours. There was one other couple with us for the Xuantunich, then we had lunch with our guide Mario and went to Cahal Pech in the afternoon. It was an amazing experience! The next day we did the cave tubing. Caution there were some pretty low water levels in a few parts of the river but over all a good experience.

Although I was a little concerned after booking to find out there weren’t any outlets in the rooms I really didn’t miss it other than having to go to the dining cabana to get coffee in the morning. One of the other lodges I looked at had a carafe of coffee or tea delivered in a basket in the morning. Since there are only 6 cabana’s maybe it is something they might consider offering. The other thing that would be nice is to have a way to have drinks in your cabana again without going all the way to the dining area, so you could enjoy the surroundings. I often travel with a small 6 pack sized soft sided cooler but didn’t bring it this time thinking it would be difficult to get ice. Our guide asked each day if we wanted to stop in town at the grocery and it would have been a good opportunity to get ice. It certainly wouldn’t last until morning but would have given us the ability to relax and have something cool to drink. I’ll definitely remember next time.

My only regret is I didn’t make enough time to enjoy more of the on-site amenities. I can't remember ever having such top notch service. A heart felt thank you to everyone at Table Rock for making our stay so enjoyable!

-Theresa

Room Tip: Jungle or River view cabanas are more private.

Table Rock is run by the most wonderful folks (on site) and is staffed by the kindest and friendliest people. Situated outside San Ignacio, it is located in a jungle setting overlooking a river. Go to sleep and wake up to the sounds of birds, monkeys and frogs. The cabanas are lovely (especially the Laughing Falcon-Riverview) and the chef prepares some of the best food we have eaten any place we have ever vacationed. Tours can be arranged through Table Rock to Mayan ruins, Mayan caves, and birding hotspots as well as lots of other places and activities. Staff and owners know the area and care about conservation and ecotourism. All said, raves and more raves about this place! You must experience it if you're thinking Belize.

A wonderful experience of gentile jungle living. Beautiful accomodation that fully exploited the magnificent variety of Belizian woods. Excellent food, freshly sourced with a daily changing menu.
One of the real pleasures was the encouragement by Colleen, Alan for guests to mix and mingle, everyone having cocktails at 6.30pm followed by dinner at 7.00pm.
Wonderful, happy, helpful staff who truly gave the impression they loved their work.

Room Tip: We had the Rain Forest cabin and loved it.

We have just returned from a trip to Belize the highlight of which was 3 nights at Table Rock. Colleen, Alan & their staff really understand customer service & made us feel very welcome. The food is top notch; the whole ambiance is relaxed & yet a member of staff is always available to help. The location is jungle so if you want a manicured environment this may not be for you, but we loved it. Table Rock is approached down a somewhat bumpy road but is a great spot for Cayo sightseeing as well as canoeing, floating & swimming in the river (conditions allowing). We'll be back!

Room Tip: We had the MotMot jungle view room. It is a detached & well shaded cabana with private "fro...
