“Couldn't have asked for better”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2013

We just returned from a wonderful trip to Belize and could not have asked for a better stay than at Table Rock. The service is just great, they are there to take care of your every need and the food, WOW! it was just wonderful like going to a five star restaurant every night. The jungle gets nice and cool at night and with the fan it was very easy to sleep especially after a busy day of excursions. The lodge set us up with some great tour guides. After a day of being out it was so nice to come back and sit around the bar, have a few drinks and share adventures/advice with all the other travelers, then have a wonderful meal (and save room for dessert, you won't regret it!). You really feel you are a part of the jungle in Table Rock and it is a great experience, would highly recommend.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Mot Mot which is very nice, but if you want a little more privacy you might go with...

My boyfriend and I booked a 4 night stay at Table Rock thanks to all the wonderful recommendations on TripAdvisor. We could not have asked for a better experience for our first trip to Belize! Alan, Colleen, Sam, Marty, Elijio, Jose, Letty, Chef George, Lu-Anni - the entire gang treated us like family from day one and kept us laughing and enjoying ourselves the entire time. It hasn't even been a week since we returned from Table Rock, and we are already discussing when to go back! If you want to be comfortable yet still entirely a part of nature and the environment, you should definitely stay at Table Rock!

Room Tip: The Mot Mot room has its own private front yard. Some of the other rooms share a balcony.

I don't even know where to begin, Table Rock was our ultimate paradise. Rustic luxury at its finest a la fresh, delicious, and creative food fit for foodies. My partner and I are still yearning for our Table Rock home in the Jungle. I researched for weeks to find the perfect place to celebrate her birthday and thankfully I found Table Rock. From the moment we drove down the beautiful tree lined entrance, our expectations were exceeded and they only continued to be exceeded throughout our 5 magical nights there.

Top 3 Reasons to stay at Table Rock .
1. The People . Everyone that worked at Table Rock was so nice, accommodating and personable. Every night, we looked forward to sharing the adventures of our day with Jose and Marty ( to the taste of delicious drinks) . Additionally, the tour guides that Table Rock works with are great. Dora and Deigo took us on adventures that we will never forget ! The staff at Table Rock and the tour guides so generously shared their knowledge and experiences with us. We learned so much from them and were so truly touched by their generosity and kindness. We also really enjoyed getting to know the owners. Colleen and Alan are very thoughtful and engaging. Be sure to check out the scrapbook they have behind the bar of the creation of Table Rock. It is truly amazing to see the lodge's development over the past few years.

2. The grounds. The lodge is beautiful ! The last reviewer described it well when they said that it was like the resort was built around the Jungle instead of the other way around. You really do feel like you have been dropped in the middle of the Jungle a la amazing pebble stone shower and delicious food. Not to mention, we found the beds to be extremely comfortable and we tend to be pretty particular about mattresses.
If you want a resort type atmosphere, Chaa Creek seems pretty nice, but that was not what we wanted. We visited Chaa Creek one day and while we enjoyed our visit we were very relieved to come back to Table Rock. Chaa Creek felt like a RESORT resort to us. It sits on a huge manicured lawn that sits by the river which just felt so out of place and unnatural to us. It was also very large so there were a lot of people around.Additionally their food was served in their restaurant where the food was decent but fairly lackluster. We loved the intimate setting of Table Rock....especially at meal times . It was nice to meet other couples and share adventures and tips over drinks , but still have a romantic dinner with one another. This brings me to my third reason to stay at Table Rock ....
3. The FOOD. I have mentioned it several times before and I will mention it again :) It is delicious, creative, and interesting. Many of the ingredients are grown right there on the farm so you couldn't ask for anything fresher ! It was the BEST food we had on our trip to Belize and some of the best food we have had on a travels in general. Being the foodies that we are , we loved that the chef came out after every meal to ask if we liked the meal.It was wonderful to be able to talk about ingrediants and cooking techniques with Chef George. I also must mention the cocktails. The margaritas were to die for and we loved all of the fruit juice cocktails because they were made from the fruit grown on the farm. Dessert too....just get dessert.

In conclusion, we loved our stay here. Our trip to Belize was one of our favorites to date ! We are definitely looking forward to returning with our friends in the years to come.

****If you are celebrating a special occasion , purchase a special private dinner. It is wonderfully romantic and Marty really goes out of his way to make it memorable :)

Room Tip: We loved the Queen Cabana because it felt private, but we were still very close to everything.

We recently spent 4 nights at Table Rock and thought it was an incredibly special place. The friendly staff is very small which gave the resort a really intimate feel. We stayed in Laughing Falcon, which is a roomy cabana with a spectacular view of the Macal river valley.

The room is in a secluded spot and completely open - large windows with no glass, just screens - so you get the most incredible sensation of sleeping and hanging out in the jungle itself! Perhaps the most unusual aspect of the resort is that the rooms have NO electrical outlets whatsoever, which quickly whisks you away from it all.

I am not a fan of bugs, so at first I was skeptical that the screens would work. But aside from a few stray moths and small spiders, they did a remarkably good job keeping all the critters out. That being said, definitely pack your bugspray while exploring the grounds. Also, between the rain and the humidity, you will get more wet than you ever have before - another fun part of the rainforest experience, but pack plenty of spare clothes! The jungle cools down at night and the rooms have powerful fans, so the lack of AC was no concern.

The grounds are really well maintained, yet aren't artificial at all - you get the impression the resort was build around the jungle and not vice versa. We enjoyed tubing down the Macal river and hiking back upstream.

The food we ate at Table Rock were all extremely tasty, and Marty and Jose can mix a mean cocktail too! The meals were served in more of a bed and breakfast style than a hotel, meaning that everyone dines at the same time and eats the same thing for dinner. This isn't anything to complain about, as everything was delicious and it lets the kitchen use extremely fresh ingredients, but you do have to plan your adventures accordingly.

We really liked Table Rock's location, as many awesome historical Mayan sites - Tikal, ATM cave, and Caracol - are all accessible for day trips. Its about a 2 hour drive from the airport and a 25 minute drive from the nearest town, San Ignacio, so while it is certainly remote, its feasible to run into town for a meal. The meals at Table Rock weren't too expensive by US standards, but you can also get big portions of delicious Belizean cuisine for a few bucks at restaurants in town, and the hotel staff will happily recommend their favorite spots.

If you want to really feel like you're in the heart of the jungle and are interested in exploring the area's local history this is definitely the spot for you.

Room Tip: While all of the rooms looked nice and offered plenty of private space to relax, it was well worth i...

We stayed for 4 nights with our 8 year old son. The accommodations fit the environment perfectly. We felt a part of the jungle. The chef was very thoughtful of our food restrictions and the meals were delicious. So many of the ingredients come from the farm/orchard on site. The staff helped with our tours so we could spend time relaxing instead of planning. We can't thank them enough for a great travel experience.

We stayed at Table Rock while in Belize for our wedding at Xunantunich. The pictures simply don't do Table Rock justice. The resort is absolutely beautiful. While still an eco-resort, it is much more luxurious than any of the other eco-resorts I've stayed in and could definitely compete with much more expensive resorts. Of all the places I've stayed during my trips to Belize, Table Rock is at the top of the list.

Situated in the jungle with beautifully landscaped yet natural grounds, the resort is cozy but the grounds are so large there is so much to explore. Definitely don't miss out on tubing or canoeing the river... be prepared for climbing the stairs back up though. We canoed down the river then spent the day at the spa and swimming pool at Chaa Creek. And while we enjoyed the day there it is much more hotel-like and we preferred the bed and breakfast feel at Table Rock. Colleen, Alan and their amazingly welcoming staff and sweet puppies Ranger and Ava were extremely accommodating, friendly and simply amazing people. And for the food, Chef George is phenomenal. We enjoyed every single meal we had at the resort and with the exception of lunch one day, we ate all our meals at the resort wanting to enjoy as much of it as possible.

Super clean, nice place. Had lots of fun tubing down the river. If you are a runner, you can run the stairs or run into town (lots of hills there too). The food was delicious and the owners very accommodating. oh yes don't miss the atm tour. It is not scary at all. while you are wet the whole time due to travelling through water in cave you are never in a position of feeling claustrophobic (and I would have felt it). It is something you may regret not doing.
