My two teenage sons and I spent two happy ( but sweaty in July) weeks in and around San Ignacio in 2007. The generosity of Phillip the owner and Roy Gentle ( yes the name means something) made our stay at Kumquat cottage the best of our many trips to Latin America. Being able to pick watermelons, avacados, limons, bananas etc from our own back yard and mix occassionally with the local coconut rum gave us a well deserved euphoria. Roy was able to arrainge a couple of tours to Barton cave and Big Rocks and had our limited budget in mind ( something Belieze is not often good at) The house is quiet, secure and wonderfully creative, you may take many of the ideas home, Phillip will not mind I am sure.
San Ignacio is a friendly town and we never felt anything but accepted. Indeed the boys profited from the friendship of the local boys and especially the exceptional young ladies ( all very proper as far as I know)
The local resturants are often very good, just walk downtown and look for a full one, it will be worth it.
