Decided to stay at Ka'ana based on the reviews on TripAdvisor and was pleasantly surprised to find that our stay was better than expected. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, the casita was beautiful, the location great, etc. What was surprising was the romantic and PRIVATE ambiance - stayed 4 nights and hardly ran into other guests!
For extra privacy, I recommend you request (casita) room 10. It is at the far end of the property and you will not hear anything aside from the birds outside. The only drawback to this room was that the view from the porch and patio included a chain-link fence, which they try to cover with fronds. Nevertheless, the privacy the room offers is well worth it.
The tour guide at Ka'ana, Wilbert, was great! It almost felt as though we had a (very knowledgeable) friend traveling with us. We researched activities and planned our own itinerary beforehand, but I almost want to discourage this type of planning for others. Speak with Wilbert, let him know what you'd like to see, and allow him to plan your activities for you. We ended up wasting a day going horseback riding through fields (very much like any other field), when we could have seen a 1000 ft. waterfall and explored caves. I highly recommend cave tubing at Jaguar Paw.
As far as dining is concerned, the unchanging menu left something to be desired. The food was fabulous, but by the 4th night, we were ready for something new.
Overall, our stay at Ka'ana was incredible. The whole experience was adventurous, luxurious AND comfortable, three seemingly opposite things.
