Decided to stay at Ka'ana based on the reviews on TripAdvisor and was pleasantly surprised to find that our stay was better than expected. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, the casita was beautiful, the location great, etc. What was surprising was the romantic and PRIVATE ambiance - stayed 4 nights and hardly ran into other guests!

For extra privacy, I recommend you request (casita) room 10. It is at the far end of the property and you will not hear anything aside from the birds outside. The only drawback to this room was that the view from the porch and patio included a chain-link fence, which they try to cover with fronds. Nevertheless, the privacy the room offers is well worth it.

The tour guide at Ka'ana, Wilbert, was great! It almost felt as though we had a (very knowledgeable) friend traveling with us. We researched activities and planned our own itinerary beforehand, but I almost want to discourage this type of planning for others. Speak with Wilbert, let him know what you'd like to see, and allow him to plan your activities for you. We ended up wasting a day going horseback riding through fields (very much like any other field), when we could have seen a 1000 ft. waterfall and explored caves. I highly recommend cave tubing at Jaguar Paw.

As far as dining is concerned, the unchanging menu left something to be desired. The food was fabulous, but by the 4th night, we were ready for something new.

Overall, our stay at Ka'ana was incredible. The whole experience was adventurous, luxurious AND comfortable, three seemingly opposite things.

“loved loved loved the kaana”

Ka'ana Boutique Resort

May 7, 2008

We just returned from 3 nights at the Ka'ana lodge and my family and had a wonderful time. It was me, my husband and 2 kids a boy 9 and a girl 5. They had a driver meet us at the airport and he was waiting. His name was Wilburt and he was also our amazing guide for 3 excursions. He took us to a restaurant midway between Belize city and the hotel - restaurant was very good local cuisine. When we got to the hotel there was a welcome drink given to us that was delicious. The kids changed right away into bathing suits and went to the pool and had a ball. Then Wilburt took us to our first excursion to Xunantunich ruins about 10 minutes from the hotel. We had the ruins to ourselves and Wilburt gave us an extensive tour with tons of information about the Mayan culture and its people. We then went back to the hotel for dinner. The next day we went on a great adventure to Tikal Guatemala to see the ruins there. The hotel arranged to have us driven to the ruins, provided a guatemalan guide Mario who was very knowledgable, great with the kids and lots of fun for all and lunch. On the way way back from Tikal we stopped at a giant lake for the kids to go for a swim - it was great! On day three we went to Jaguar Paw for cave tubing - again with Wilburt - we had a great time and a picnic lunch! On the day we were leaving Ava the Assistant manager and a wonderful host had a wild ginger tree ready for the kids to plant - its the hotels way of giving back to the environment by planting new trees. We loved that! All in all we couldn't have been treated better. It was a wonderful place we look forward to returning to - so we can visit our tree.

We spent a few weeks back packing around central america and before returning to reality we fancied a little bit of pampering, and got so much more then we hoped for.
Ka'ana manages to provide excellent service in beautiful luxurious surroundings without loosing the personal touch. All the staff were friendly and relaxed and lots of options for day trips and activities, Tikal is a must

We stayed four nights mid-April 2008. The resort is beautiful, the food is first-rate and the staff is very attentive. The site is near several attractions, including Mayan ruins and caves where you can go tubing or canoing (with a guide). This is a great base for day trips and right off the main road. The resort is very new and small, only 15 or so rooms. But they have a lot of land to expand on and I expect they will.

We really enjoyed our 4 night stay at Ka'ana. My husband & I stayed in a casita and found the room & bathroom to be spacious and clean. We also had some of our meals at the hotel and enjoyed them all. Nick, the manager was extremely friendly and even drove us to dinner in town one night! The rest of the staff was also great as we found them to be extremely friendly and attentive.

One of the days we were there, we relaxed at the pool and got complimentary watermelon and ice cold clothes to cool us off in the heat!

Overall, a great place w/ amazing service!

We booked our tours through Mayawalk so I can't say anything about Ka'ana's tours, but Mayawalk was great!
