We were the first guests in the new private pool villas and will be difficult to put the experience into words. Beautiful area, amazing room, and service which surpassed any five star resort in the US in which I have visited. When staying in upscale hotels I admit I have high expectations as we all deserve value for our dollar.....I would struggle to put a price tag on this stay as the experience was over the top fantastic. Will be returning very soon to visit the new two bedroom pool villa (comes with private pool, butler and chef).....one bedroom only has private butler and pool. If you visit Belize and want an amazing and relaxing experience, do not miss this hotel. Private helicopter trip from Belize City is also a great add on. Food on the property is also excellent (ask to see the very nice organic garden on the property).

Room Tip: Any room we saw but privte pool villas are true luxury.

We enjoyed a great two night stay at the Ka'Ana Resort. Special thanks to the staff for making us feel welcome and for their extremely attentive service (especially Oscar - he checked up on us whenever we were relaxing by the pool, and though we didn't order any drinks, he brought over ice water with orange and lemon soaking in it - a delicious, refreshing treat).

The restaurant was good, but not the best value in the area. Luckily, we rented a car to get from the airport to San Ignacio and were able to drive to the town whenever we needed to (the hotel's suggestion was to park behind a bank next to the library in town, and LonelyPlanet suggested parking close to the police station - both spots are near one another and we didn't have problems with either). I would recommend renting a car to get here if you are staying at the Ka'Ana, as the hotel is 1-2 miles outside of town (along the Western Highway, easy to find following the hotel's directions) and other transportation options are either more expensive or more time consuming.

Our stay included a "Continental Breakfast," which was a choice of one item from the "Continental" section of the breakfast menu. This was not a huge breakfast but a refreshing start to the day and enough to leave satisfied but not stuffed (I chose the yogurt with granola and fruit both days).

We did not take any of the Ka'Ana's tours, so I cannot comment on that, but it was a very easy drive west along the highway to the Xunantunich site.

The stay here isn't cheap, but you get what you pay for, and if you want to be spoiled by luxury in the middle of the jungle, you've found the right place.

We enjoyed our trip to Belize at the beginning of January and felt like our stay at the Ka'ana was indicative of the friendly and helpful service you will receive in most of San Ignacio. The resort is clean and lovely. The people of kind and always willing to guide you to the best that San Ignacio has to offer.
Enjoyed the Mayan ruins and the many of the local restaurants, and just wandering around. Welcome to the jungle! I just wish our camera would have not been lost at the airport so that we could have captured some of the magic.

For my husband's birthday, I arranged a weekend getaway for the two of us at Ka'ana Boutique Resort and Spa. While the excursions available at Ka'ana are first class, and well worth the prices (according to all of the new friends we met during our weekend stay,) we let it be known upon our arrival that we intended to spend the whole weekend on the hotel grounds, enjoying what they had to offer us. And it was splendid. Our King Casita room was gorgeous, with two entrances...the beautiful front sitting area, allowing a quiet place to rest, read, and simply enjoy the beauty of the gorgeous landscaping, and the back veranda, giving us privacy while still letting us enjoy the sounds of the jungle. The bed was luxurious, and the room was beautifully decorated. Of course, we appreciated the air conditioning.

The food at Ka'ana is fresh and delicious, although a bit costly. We tried several local specialties, which we loved. The pool, although small, is an intimate setting, and this is where we met and visited with several families from America and from within Belize, allowing our visit to become even more special.

The staff is amazing......Juliette, the manager, seemed to be available at all times, to ensure that our stay was perfect. We saw her several times over the weekend on the grounds, mingling with guests, checking on them to make sure that everything was going well. Marco, in the restaurant, Oscar at the pool, Jose in the kitchen....all seemed to become our friends over the short time we were there. We arranged for a massage and pedicure...and the spa is lovely as well.

My husband arrived on Friday after work, stressed and tense, after his work week. Only a short two days later, he was relaxed, refreshed and ready to go back to our work in Belmopan. We will indeed visit Ka'ana again. Even though it is more expensive than many resorts or hotels, living ion Cayo.....it took us about 45 minutes to drive to this little haven for some rejuvenation and quality time as husband and wife. Next time we visit though, we will indeed take advantage of one or two of their exursion plans.

I also am a little confused why Ka'ana was not chosen as the residence for Prince Harry when he visited Belize. In our opinion, it would have been the best choice!

Room Tip: The lower end rooms are beatiful. Each upgrade, however, adds something to make the extra cost well...

Ka'ana was a wonderful resort in Belize! We were told it was nice, but never expected it to be as great as it was! We loved it! The staff was so attentive and helpful! They did everything possible to make our stay amazing and it worked! The food was a wonderful too! It was a wonderful mix of local flavors in each dish! The organic garden there was the source of some of the food, which I loved too! The fruit was all so sweet and tasty!

I would recommend this resort to anyone!! It is NOT to be missed if you go to Belize!

My husband and myself spent 4 wonderful days at this wonderful resort. The staff is extremely welcoming and go out of their way to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. This resort is all about highly personally service. We decided on the All Inclusive Package. Yes, it is expensive, we were not disappointed and every penny was worth it. Every detail of your stay here is taken care. Their tour guides and drivers are highly trained and passionate about sharing their culture and their countries history with guest. We did a full day tour of Tikal in Guatemala and a half day tour of Xunantunich with our guide Wilburt. He was extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. We also went cave tubing with him. On all tours he allowed us to go at our own pace and we were never rushed. The guides carried fresh drinking water, juice and soda with them in the car. We requested eating out for lunch one day and Wilbert took us to this wonderful little local restaurant between tours. We also went on a morning birding tour at a newly opened private reserve and did a quick tour of the zoo on our way back to the airport. All meals at the resort are outstanding and authentic Belizean gourmet cuisine. They take great pride of their organic garden where fruits and vegetables are served at meals. The spa is also wonderful and relaxing after a day of hiking and touring. We stayed at a lovely casitas. The rooms are spotless. Water bottles were replaced in the room daily. What ever your request is, they will make every effort to fulfill your request and make this your "dream vacation".
I also liked that this resort supports the local schools. Please go to their web site to read more about this before you go. I didn't and I feel so bad because I would of loved to bring with me a small package of school supplies for the school. We did however make a small donation to the school, under no pressure what so ever from the resort. They simply mentioned this program to us in the overview presentation.

Our family of 5 stayed in two casitas and found our visit to Ka'ana to be a special part of an amazing Belizean adventure. The staff is friendly and dedicated to personalizing your stay.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by name and provided with a delicious ginger and lime drink. A helpful orientation soon followed and included a tasting of a local liqueur. We were also surprised to find beautiful fresh-picked hibiscus flowers strewn throughout the room.

The grounds are small and meticulously maintained with labeled fauna that makes for an interesting little tropical stroll. The infinity pool and waterfall were lovely, although not heated and quite cold after the rains. The nightly turn down service included an additional light housekeeping and tasty treat in the mini-fridge. Candles were lit in our rooms and along the pathways outdoors, adding to the serene, romantic setting.

The beds were very comfortable with high-quality linens and there is beautiful local wood throughout the room. The seating area was not overly comfortable, but certainly functional. Flat screen tvs with DirectTV and wi-fi kept our 11-year old plugged into favorite shows and games during downtimes. The bathrooms are large, spa-like and stocked with amazing scented natural soaps and shampoo. All of these things enhance your senses and create an overall experience of relaxed luxury.

Everything we ate at the restaurant was truly delicious. The banana pancakes and pork chops were top favorites, but the talented chef made everything amazing. The wait staff encouraged us to make special requests, which were happily met. We even received complimentary gelato for my parents' 45th anniversary. Guest Services Manager Desorine originally tried to set a special outdoor dinner, but we were rained out.

The hotel is located a short drive from the small downtown and the staff dropped us off. Cabs are plentiful and we caught a $5 ride back to the hotel, although you can also call the hotel and they'll come pick you up. In an example of excellent service, a staff member somehow managed to find cough syrup for my husband, who caught a cold, on a Sunday evening when most stores were closed. Not sure how he did it, but we were all grateful for a restful night.

We took a Xunantunich tour booked through the hotel with Wilburt who was an awesome guide. He was enthusiastic, knowledgeable, accommodating and provided great historical perspective and narrative.

At our request, he also escorted us to the Succotz School, a local school where we donated supplies we brought with us in our luggage. Ka'ana partners with "Pack for a Purpose," an organization that encourages travelers to bring items needed by a local school or clinic. It is such an easy way to give something back to the areas where you travel. Ka'ana is also currently trying to raise money for a new much-needed bathroom facility for the students. Please consider bringing what supplies you can and/or financially supporting the hotel's efforts to raise funds for capital projects at the Succotz School. The hotel can deliver the supplies for you. We saw first-hand how much the principal appreciated the support already received and how much more is still needed. Check out the "sustainability" section of their website to learn more.

While hotel shuttle back to the airport was comfortable, it felt a bit overpriced. Although, this is not a bargain hotel in any respect. Guests pay top dollar and receive lovely accommodations and unparalleled service.
