“Spectacular view of a quiet little town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2013

In June 2012, our party stayed at Cahal Pech Village Resort. Upon arrival, we had a little mix-up with our rooms, but that was quickly resolved. We stayed in the thatch-roofed cabanas that "hang"on the side of a very large hill, giving the residents of these rooms the most spectacular views of San Ignacio Town and the surrounding countryside.(We were also treated with several lightening storms...talk about fireworks!) The bar and restaurant are a great place to hang out at the resort as the staff is very friendly and the drinks are refreshing...try the Belizean Snow! The thatch-roofs were a bit hot (at least for Texans) and when the geckos ran across the dried ceiling, they knocked small bits of dried straw and dust down to the floor. Other than these two "obstacles", the cabanas were large and had wonderful screened-in porches with hammocks! This summer, we're heading back to San Ignacio and Cahal Pech, but we are going to give the regular rooms a try.

We stayed in a cabana in March 2013 for 3 nights. The cabanas are simple, clean and had air conditioning with a great view of the valley. The resort pools were nice and were great to relax in after hiking all day. The food was ok, nothing great. Oscar the bartender was very friendly and always had a new drink to try. We would stay here again if staying in San Ignacio. One more thing, we took a taxi to town twice, for $8 us round trip both times, alot easier then trying to walk up the hill from town.

We stayed in a Cabana as a treat to end our trip. The rooms were old. There was no coffee or water provided in the rooms. Every little thing cost extra. The view was great. The food excellent and reasonably priced. Lots of hills and stairs. This was our forth and most expensive hotel. It was also the one with the least amenities. I would not stay here again. The management seem to cater more to groups then individuals

We stayed here for 4 nights in March 2013. You sit atop the town of San Ignacio and are granted excellent views of the valley below. The accommodations are simple cabanas. Each cabana comes equipped with a screened porch and a hammock to relax in after a long day of hiking. We did have a minor insect problem that was no easily fixed. The shower was satisfactory we had a small a/c unit.

I would highly recommend this place. And let them be your tour guides. They did the most amazing job setting up tours with local companies. I can't stress enough how great of a job they did in arranging tours for us. They also arranged all our transfers (drivers to other places).

The menu at the resort is limited and the bar closes at 10pm. So don't come here looking for a night life. However the staff is wonderfully friendly and helpful.

Town is a short walk away albeit down a huge hill. You're also next door to the Cahal Pech ruins.

I don't think you can do better for your money. We used this resort as a location for excursions to: Caracol, Mountain Pine Ridge, ATM Caves, Xunantunich, River Canoeing (Macal), Tikal.

Room Tip: Get a cabana.

First of all, the staff could not have been nicer and friendlier. Rafael, Cynthia, and Reina, were all so accommodating, helpful, courteous, and professional. Mr. Chin was also very friendly and helpful. Lenny did a great job lining up our activities. The restaurant serving staff and bartenders were great.

We rented a two bedroom thatched roof cabin by the pool. One room was huge with a king size bed while the other room was smaller with twin beds. The view and porch area were great. We enjoyed the hammock. The view of downtown San Ignacio, especially at night, was beautiful.) BEWARE, it is a 20-25 minute walk, down and up, a STEEP HILL to downtown San Ignacio.

The rooms were cleaned every day (we were there for a week) and there was a small fridge to keep drinks and food items in.

The restaurant was good, but not great. We certainly had better (and somewhat cheaper) meals in the many restaurants of San Ignacio.

The pools were large and inviting, however the water was cold (even in the "cool tub"), but it was a great way to cool off after climbing Mayan ruin sites.

I recommend that they add hammocks to the "porch area" - on the same level as the restaurant. This would allow for more relaxation and snoozing!

I WOULD DEFINITELY RETURN HERE AND RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO OTHERS.

A nice hotel with amazing views of San Ignacio. Great place to stay just outside of town, with a fabulous breakfast. People are friendly, bar is good. Rooms don't have anything special, but are clean. No shampoo offered so bring your own. Good air conditioning. Highly recommend hotel.

Room Tip: I think all rooms are ok here.

We traveled with another couple and rented a two bedroom thatched roof cabin by the pool. One room was huge with a king size bed while the other was smaller with twin beds. It would have been a better fit for a family with kids as the rooms were very inequitable. However, the view and porch area were great. The rooms were cleaned every day, (we were there for a week) and there was a small fridge to keep drinks and food items in. The restaurant was great, best food we had, staff was very wonderful and helpful. The pool was huge and inviting however it was cold when we were there so didnt get to use it much.
