“A small but impressive site with a great museum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2013

While not the best Mayan site in the area, it was an important site and should not be missed. One of the best features is the museum at the visitors center, which I found to be the best overall museum of all the Mayan sites in Belize. Don't skip or rush the museum part. Great info and exhibits there!

“Explore at your leisure”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2013

This is not one of the grand Mayan ruins but you can easily walk there from the town and explore the site at your leisure without contending with crowds. It gives you a sense of the presence of so many Mayan sites in the area, with large farming populations quickly reclaimed by the jungle. Because it was uncrowded and we could take our time, it was actually more enjoyable than some of the grander sites.

“Surprisingly interesting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013

We got here late and had time only for about a 45 minute tour before dark. We hired a guide and he turned out to be an archaeology college student on holiday break. It was a wonderful tour full of knowledge, especially as he was part Mayan. This site, although small, in many ways is more impressive than Caracol. Perhaps it is because it is much more on a personal scale. It is also earlier in date. Do not miss this gem, as it is easily accessible - only one short section of dirt road!

“A good way to spend an hour”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013

It was a small site, but conveniently located. Fun to climb around on. They were setting up for a wedding - what a great place for a wedding.

“Hidden Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2013

Not a lot of tourist traffic! Nice to be able to explore, reflect, and take pictures without tons of people around. I also appreciated the fact they had a museum. Other sites don't have one! We stayed at Cahal Pech Village Resort and this site was only a 5 min walk.
