“Comfortable stay in San Ignacio”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2013

Our family of four recently stayed at the San Ignacio Hotel on a three day tour (our second to the Cayo area). The staff are friendly and accommodating. The resort lobby is very beautiful, the rooms are pleasant and clean. We were able to enjoy coffee for our early morning birding (5:30am the best time) on one of the many decks facing on to the 'jungle' (beautiful treed area at the top of a hill). We finally got to see toucans!
We received complimentary rum punch upon arrival and a bottle of water each. Unfortunately you have to pay for bottled water after that. I would think at the price of rooms, bottled water would be available free of charge. Perhaps a refillable water container per room and a centrally located water cooler? There were also no glasses provided in the rooms, we had to wash and reuse the rum punch glass for teeth brushing.
I would also recommend the hotel clean up the pool area (used towels) and replenish towels late afternoon for guests returning from excursions.
I recommend the San Ignacio Hotel as a centrally located hotel, a short walk into town and easy access to other Cayo excursions. I would choose to stay there again.

Room Tip: We booked a garden room and a premier garden room. I did not detect any difference in the rooms.

From the minute you arrive until you leave, the staff treats you well ... they know your name and make you welcome; they make jokes and the rooms are also great. Rooms are clean, fresh, tiled ... bathroom and toiletries are cool!

The restuarant is great - good food, great location to observe the fauna and flora - esp. the birds and the iguanas.
The pool is open 24 hours (that in itself is awesome), which is wonderful for a late night dip or early morning swim.
The grounds, the location, the staff - everything was wonderful.

I recently had the opportunity to spend one evening at the beautiful San Ignacio Resort Hotel in Cayo, BELIZE. I had a most wonderful experience - but certainly, one evening is not enough time to enjoy everything this wonderful "gem" of a resort has to offer. The hotel is spotless, the staff is incredibly knowledgable and efficient. Every team member I encountered was professional, pleasant and ready to assist. The food and beverage outlets are wonderful - coffee on the veranda in the morning is simply a must! The guestrooms are clean, comfortable and well equiped and the bathroom shower is wonderful. If you are in Belize, you must make time for a visit to the San Ignacio Resort Hotel!!!

We loved everything about this resort. The staff was sensational-very friendly and hard working and did everything in their power to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The food was delicious and the rooms were very nice. We will definitely go back. Perfection!

By far the nicest accommodations in San Ignacio. Great food and drinks. Try the watermelon juice any time of day! No fitness center but there are no shortage of outdoor activities do get your heart rate elevated. We had reserved a single queen bed. However due to the holiday we were given two twin beds.

My wife and I are on the tail end of a 2 week stay in various parts of Belize, and the San Ignacio Resort Hotel was by far the best place we stayed. To give you some context, we also stayed at duPlooy's in San Ignacio (also very nice), All Seasons Guest House in Hopkins (not recommended), Caye Reef Apartments (great but too big for a couple) and Sea Dreams Hotel in Caye Caulker. Although we enjoyed the experience at some of the other places, the SIRH by far exceeded our expectations.

We arranged all of our own outings, so they did not assist us with that, but we did get good dining recommendations from Mary at the front desk, which was very helpful since most of the places in town were shut down for the Easter holiday weekend.

We stayed for 3 nights and the staff was very attentive. The rooms are very comfortable and spacious and the pool area was more than adequate. Unlike some of the other places we stayed, the staff there immediately addressed any issue we had - not that there was much to deal with because the hotel is already fantastic.

In short, if you are headed to the San Ignacio area, it is well worth spending a little extra to stay here and using this as your launching area for the many day trips that the area has to offer.

We just returned from 8 days in Belize three of which we stayed at this hotel. It was over 100 degrees the entire time we were there and we were so relieved to have such nice, quiet and beautiful place with a quiet in-room AC unit and a great pool. The staff here is wonderful. They remember your name, help in any way possible and were very accommodating. We liked the food - chicken wings and Bob's special (mayan steak with onions over a basket of fries) being favorites. We had conch soup that was wonderful. We also ate in town and enjoyed that also. The location can't be beat as it is so easy to get everywhere from this hotel. Special thanks to their guide Ted who took us to Tikal when it was 106. He is awesome and a great guide. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely go again.

Room Tip: Spend the extra money on a deluxe room - much better location.
