“Great place to stay, home away from home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2014

We stayed in Rainforrest Inn for five nights in April 2014. Our room (#4) was very specious, clean and convenient. Shamera, the host, and her husband Jorje were very very very pleasant and helpful. You cannot wish for anything better. She organized all our transfers to and from the hotel and all tours we wanted and he gave us recommendations to all eating places. Hotel is in the heart of San Ignacio and there are plenty of good places to eat. There are roof top deck and home like kitchen where we had our breakfasts (perfect fruits from the local market). The days were very hot during our stay and Shamera quickly organized canvas cover over the deck and a portable pool. Will definitely stay there again and recommend it to all our friends.

Room Tip: You don't need to look any further, this is the place

Was here for 3 nights, and this was a great place to stay. Affordable, clean, spacious, and in the center of San Ignacio. I had room 4, which was the cheapest of the rooms at $40/night. The bed was comfortable, the TV worked, two giant fans kept the room cool. The internet is a bit slow a times but that didn't matter much to me since most of my time was spent outside the hotel. The bathroom isn't connected to the room. It's right next to the room and still private... you just have another key to use and a 2 step walk to the bathroom door. Not a big deal just something to know about. And Shemera is absolutely wonderful! Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Shemera (the owner) is absolutely is the best! Her outstanding customer service really separates the Rainforest from other budget accommodations. She arranged our tours to ATM and Caracol with first rate guides, gave us great recommendations for eating in town and was always around to answer our questions.

The hotel itself was good enough. Great location, just a few blocks above "downtown". Our room was big and clean with a large private bathroom and AC. The rooftop balcony has amazing views of San Ignacio and a hammock to chill out in.

I'll definitely stay here again when I return to San Ignacio.

This is a VERY basic guest house. However, it fit the bill. We needed someplace that was clean, cheap and cheerful in San Ignacio and Rainforest Haven Inn fit the bill. The owner, Shameer is very lovely and made us feel most welcome. The reason I only give it two stars is that the bathroom smelled and looked like an abandoned renovation project. And, our toilet backed up almost immediately. The room is clean but very, very basic. However, the location is great. This place is perfect for backpackers spending a few nights in San Ignaico.

We stayed here for just one night with our boys! The hotel was clean and bright. The lady running the hotel was super friendly and helpful. We booked a tour to ATM caves with mr. Louis and it was great and well priced. The value of this hotel I thought was absolutely great! For $55 we had a room with 2 beds, air conditioning and hot water, And very very clean! It surpassed my expectations for what was listed in the Lonely Planet guide as a budget hotel!!

The Rainforest Haven Inn was excellent. I paid $45 for an air conditioned room with bathroom. I was near the downtown section of San Ignacio and could easily walk to lots of eating establishments. While all tour offices were close by, the Inn's manager arranged our tours for us. We found when on tours, that we were paying the least of those on the tours from other hotels. Apparently, some hotels add a charge, but ours apparently didn't as the charges weren't any different than the offices in town charged. The manager also gave us excellent recommendations for places to eat, and even accepted an invitation for dinner and drove us to an excellent and reasonably priced restaurant and was a pleasure to have at dinner with us. She shared lots of anecdotal stories about San Ignacio and Belize. It was, all in all, an excellent stay, with visits to Caracol, waterfalls, Xunantunitch, Actun Tunichil Muknal National Monument (ATM) cave and underground river, Tikal in Guatemala, and just the great and friendly people of San Ignacio. If you are looking for a resort style place out of town and in the jungle or along a river, this is not it, but if you want a low cost clean room, great and quiet environment, clean kitchen area, and very friendly and responsive staff (ran right out and bought a new blender when the one there died; had to have our smoothies!), this is the place!

Room Tip: Specify if you want air conditioning. Not all rooms have air conditioning. There is a room 5 on th...

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Unlike a new hotel with standardized rooms, the Rainforest Haven Inn in San Ignacio, Belize is an antique structure with varying room configurations. It was built as a private home and the three storage building with only seven-bedrooms has a more rustic feel. Each room is unique but aiming to make you feel at home. Rooms are equipped with air conditioned, cable TV, hot and cold bath and free WiFi. What makes us unique is that we are the only accommodation in the downtown area that offers a roof deck pool. Our guests have access to a full kitchen on the third floor which is perfect to make a quick meal, warm your food or make some coffee. We also feature a terrace that has a 360 degrees view of San Ignacio and is a lovely place to have your coffee or a glass of wine in the evening. There is also a beauty shop on the ground floor. The Rainforest Haven Inn also features daily room services for free, car rental services, and laundry services for a fee. We are about a 3-5 minute walk to restaurants, grocery shops, banks, tour agencies, bus terminal etc. Everything is very close without feeling like you are in the thick of it.
