my husband and I moved to stay here after arriving at a really noisy hotel. We wanted to be away from the night club but still walking distance to downtown. John and Rosa are super sweet and knowledgeable about things to do in area. We ended up staying 3 nights because it was a good base to start our adventures. Very budget friendly and basic , but hey we were backpacking and just needed clean bed and shower. John has so much stories to share. It was just great talking to him and meeting other backpackers.

John and Rosa are great hosts. The place itself is clean and homey. It is literally like being at your grandmas's and grandpa's place. You feel very welcome and John is a great guide if you wanna do something in the town. Rosa washed our clothes and John got us a canoe to take on the river running through San Ignasio. Great place, Great stay. I can really recommend it.

My wife and I stayed 2 nights at J&R and we loved it. The rooms are clean and comfortable but what made the stay memorable was John and Rosa. They were like your fondest memories of your grandma and grandpa, or in our case our mom and dad as we have 8 grand kids of our own. Rosa made sure we had anything we needed and just quietly loved us. John is a man who has such a great pride in his Mayan ancestory that he will talk for hours about the culture and the country. He told us things about the Mayan temples that even the tour guides didn,t know. a must see Belizen experiance.

My boyfriend and I have been traveling Central America for several months now; we stayed here back in September and we still look back on it as one of the highlights of our trip. Jon and Rosa are two of the nicest, most genuine people we have met during our travels. Their friendliness and hospitality was what made this place so wonderful. From the moment we stepped in Jon was willing to give us advice of things to see and do in the area. He helped us arrange nearby tours (ATM with Carlos was incredible) and even drove us to his nephew's wonderful restaurant one night and arranged our transport back to the hostel one night. He helped us get to nearby Maya ruins and was truly passionate about the nearby history and his heritage. He also (for only a small price for gas) offered to drive us to the border and assisted us in our first border crossing in Central America. It's the little things - one night the power went out and Jon was quick to light candles. Set in a great little garden with hummingbirds, rooms are clean, laundry service available, shared bath is nice and complimentary coffee & bread/jam are an added bonus. I could say so much more, but the other reviews should just add to your reason to stay here if you are ever in San Ignacio.

My boyfriend and I stayed at this place on route to Guatemala. The owners were so lovely and made us feel right at home. The place was very clean, comfortable and just what we were needing for a quiet night of rest! It's also just off from the main hub of town so much more tranquil. We were served complimentary bread and jam in the morning with coffee, followed by some important advice about how to not get scammed crossing the border to Guate! At $35 Belizean for a double with shared bathroom, this is a great deal. Would thoroughly recommend it!

John and Rosa are a delightful couple who really make you feel like guests in their home (which is literally what we were).

The garden and the breakfast patio looking onto it really set this apart from other budget accommodation in town. Very handy for anything in San Ignacio and John's local knowledge is very helpful. A quiet, unassuming Belizean couple - they started letting rooms in their home once their children left home and as this grew so popular they built more rooms on.

The rooms are clean and offer everything you'll need.
